Strong magnets with ordered structures

open access: yesMaterials Research Letters, 2022
Permanent-magnet materials are critical components for green energy technologies, but the intrinsic trade-off between saturation magnetization and coercivity limits their achievable energy density. Here, a new concept of ordered structures is proposed to

Permanent Magnet Brushless Drives [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Industry Applications Magazine, 1998
The purpose of this paper is to present an optimal efficiency control scheme for constant power operation of phase decoupling (PD) PM brushless DC motor drives. The key is to adaptively adjust the advanced conduction angle to minimize the system losses for a given operation point in the constant power region.

Antibiofilm activity of a chionodracine‐derived peptide by NMR‐based metabolomics of cell‐free supernatant of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...

Analysis of cogging torque in brushless machines having nonuniformly distributed stator slots and stepped rotor magnets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A simple analytical technique is proposed for synthesizing the cogging torque waveform of a permanent magnet brushless machine from the cogging torque waveform that is associated with a single stator slot.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Torsional mode magnetostrictive patch transducer with TPSMs for liquid-filled pipes inspection

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
T (0,1) mode guided waves have no axial or radial vibration displacement. Therefore, the energy leakage is small in liquid-filled pipes, which is suitable for detecting the axial defects of the liquid-filled pipes.

Performance Testing and Analysis of Synchronous Reluctance Motor Utilizing Dual-phase Magnetic Material [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
While interior permanent magnet (1PM) machines have been considered the state-of-the art for traction motors, synchronous reluctance (SynRel) motors with advanced materials can provide a competitive alternative.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
