RECOVERY OF PROTEIN FROM MUNG BEAN STARCH PROCESSING WASTEWATER BY ROTATING ULTRAFILTRATION [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2016
Mung bean wastewater containing valuable protein is very potential to be recovered for reuse. In this study, rotary disk ultrafiltration was employed to recover this protein.

Stabilization of açaí (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) juice by the microfiltration process

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Technology, 2016
Açaí berry, a Brazilian palm fruit widely distributed in northern South America, is acknowledged for its functional properties such as high antioxidant capacity and anti-inflammatory activities. Although the açaí juice is highly appreciated in Brazil and

Fouling of dairy components on hydrophobic polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membranes for membrane distillation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study investigates fouling of membranes during membrane distillation (MD) of two model dairy feeds — skim milk and whey, as well as their major single components.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Pilot scale study of chlorination-induced transport property changes of a seawater reverse osmosis membrane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A pilot-scale study was performed to assess variations of reverse osmosis (RO) membrane water permeance (A) and salt retention (Robs) induced by chlorination and to compare them with those observed at the lab-scale. A chlorination protocol was adapted to

Empirical predicting permeate flux in skim milk microfiltration

open access: yesFoods and Raw Materials
Native micellar casein and whey proteins can be obtained from skim milk by microfiltration. It is a popular method that yields high-quality dairy products. The article introduces an empirical approach to predicting the permeate flux value during microfiltration of skim milk.

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Microstructural development, electrical properties and oxygen permeation of zirconia-palladium composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Yttria-stabilized cubic zirconia (YSZ)-palladium dual phase composites have been investigated. The percolative composite containing 40 vol% Pd (ZYPd40) showed a much larger oxygen permeability than that of the non-percolative composite containing 30 vol%

Feasibility of a ctDNA multigenic panel for non‐small‐cell lung cancer early detection and disease surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Plasma‐based detection of actionable mutations is a promising approach in lung cancer management. Analysis of ctDNA with a multigene NGS panel identified TP53, KRAS, and EGFR as the most frequently altered, with TP53 and KRAS in treatment‐naïve patients and TP53 and EGFR in previously treated patients.
