The adsorption of Permethrin by soil

Toxicological & Environmental Chemistry, 1983
Adsorption experiments were conducted with three soils to determine the characteristics of adsorption and the factors affecting adsorption of permethrin in soil. Permethrin was adsorbed in batch experiments within two hours. Adsorption isotherms followed the Freundlich equation (r 2 = 0.71 –0.98) and most of them were classified as S‐curves implying a ...

Mothproofing with permethrin

Pesticide Science, 1977
AbstractThe new pyrethroid, permethrin, previously shown to have high activity against textile pests, was successfully applied to wool from a conventional dye bath. The stability of permethrin to boiling aqueous conditions and to some textile testing regimes was shown to be satisfactory, although some loss on prolonged boiling did occur.

Uptake and elimination of permethrin related to the use of permethrin treated clothing for forestry workers

Toxicology Letters, 2014
Wearing of permethrin treated clothing usually implicates an uptake of permethrin by the user. Aim of our study was to examine the kinetics of internal permethrin exposure in volunteers during and after a single 8h-use of treated clothing as well as factors potentially influencing permethrin uptake.

Mortality of Honeybees (Hymenoptera: Apidae) Exposed to Permethrin and Combinations of Permethrin with Piperonyl Butoxide

Journal of Apicultural Research, 1989
SummaryA laboratory study was conducted to test the pyrethroid insecticide, permethrin, separately and in combination with piperonyl butoxide (PB) at ratios of 1 part insecticide to 4 and 9 parts PB. Foraging honeybees, Apis mellifera L., were exposed to treated filter paper to determine toxicity and synergistic effects between the binary mixtures ...

A new treatment regimen with permethrin in scabies

Italian Journal of Dermatology and Venereology, 2018
Topical permethrin, applied once daily, is considered as the most effective treatment in scabies.Eighty-nine adult immunocompetent patients with scabies were treated with 5% permethrin cream: 42 patients were treated with a single application/day (group 1); 47 patients were treated with one application/day for two consecutive days (group 2).

Comparative Percutaneous Absorption of Lindane and Permethrin [PDF]

open access: possibleArchives of Dermatology, 1996
Because of the concern for potential neurotoxic effects (central nervous system excitation, convulsions) in the treatment of scabies using 1% lindane lotion, 5% permethrin cream has been suggested as an alternative scabicide. Using the finite dose technique, in vitro percutaneous absorption of 5% permethrin cream or 1% lindane lotion was measured in ...

Termite control with microencapsulated permethrin

Pesticide Science, 1994
AbstractBait methods with microencapsulated active ingredients are proposed for controlling local populations of subterranean termites. The foraging workers will take up the microcapsules, transport them to the nest and pass them to their nestmates. In laboratory tests microencapsulated formulations of permethrin had lethal effects on Heterotermes ...

Permethrin toxicity in exotic pets

Veterinary Record, 2010
Permethrin toxicity in cats has rightly received much attention recently (see, for example, VR , February 27, 2010, vol 166, [p 281][1]). I take this opportunity to remind colleagues that permethrin and other pyrethroids are also poisonous to other pet species, including arachnids, fish and ...

The Efficacy of Permethrin Lotion in Pediculosis Capitis

International Journal of Dermatology, 1985
ABSTRACT: A clinical trial of the pyrethroid permethrin in 1% lotion was performed on 20 children. Ten were treated for 10 minutes and 10 for 2 hours. All lice washed off the heads of children treated for 2 hours were dead immediately after treatment.
