Study on loaded condition characteristics of piezoelectric actuator

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2014
A stacked piezoelectric actuator is used for precision positioning because of high resolution, large generative force and high responsiveness. When piezoelectric actuators are used in the positioning mechanism it is usually used in compressive pre-load ...

Fiber‐reinforced Liquid Metal Composites With Automated Circuit Fabrication for Structurally‐Integrated Power Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fiber‐reinforced liquid metal composites (FibRe LMCs) are introduced that combine GPa‐scale structural performance with digitally programmable electrical conductivity. Through automated CNC activation, conductive pathways and wireless power transfer circuits are fabricated directly within load‐bearing composites, enabling structurally integrated ...

Finite Element Analysis for Complex Permittivity Measurement of a Dielectric Plate and Its Application to Inverse Problem [PDF]

open access: yes
The resonant frequency and unloaded quality factor of a cylindrical cavity resonator are computed accurately by using the axisymmetric finite element method. Here the loss of both a dielectric sample and a shielding conductor is taken into account.

Imaging the Thickness‐Dependent Formation of Schottky Barriers in Metal–Semiconductor van der Waals Heterostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Using nanobeam photoemission, we demonstrate imaging of the in‐plane and out‐of‐plane electric field landscape within a metal–semiconductor van der Waals heterostructure. We provide evidence for Schottky barrier formation that depends on the semiconductor thickness. ABSTRACT Achieving high‐performance optoelectronic devices based on two‐dimensional van

Self‐Assembled Lipids as Soft Dielectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐assembled lipid bilayers serve as soft dielectric materials for ultrathin electronics. Using liquid‐metal parallel‐plate junctions, the capacitance and dielectric breakdown of dehydrated lipid films are characterized. Dielectric behavior is controlled by lipid molecular structure, cholesterol content, and assembly conditions, providing molecular ...

Design and Characterization of a Two‐Dimensional Soft Array Based on Cooperative Dielectric Elastomer Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fully polymeric two‐dimensional array of Dielectric Elastomers enables self‐sensing, cooperative actuation, and large‐stroke operation in a DE‐based autonomous conveyor. Based only on voltage and current measurements at actuator level, the system detects the presence of a ball and subsequently drives it toward a target position.

Varactor-Based Tunable Sensor for Dielectric Measurements of Solid and Liquid Materials

open access: yesJournal of Sensor and Actuator Networks
In this article, a tunable RF sensor is presented for the measurement of dielectric materials (liquids and solids) based on a metamaterial resonator. The proposed novel configuration sensor has a microstrip line-loaded metamaterial resonator with tunable
