Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

A SAS/IML algorithm for an exact permutation test
An algorithm written in SAS/IML is presented that can perform an exact permutation test for a two-sample comparison. All possible permutations are considered.

A Non-Parametric Test for a Two-Way Analysis of Variance
The methodology carried out in this work is based on non-parametric inference. The problem is framed as a regression analysis, and the solution is derived using the permutation approach.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Improved algorithm for permutation testing
For a permutation $π: [K]\rightarrow [K]$, a sequence $f: \{1,2,\cdots, n\}\rightarrow \mathbb R$ contains a $π$-pattern of size $K$, if there is a sequence of indices $(i_1, i_2, \cdots, i_K ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Permutation Tests for Reflected Symmetry
A \(d\)-variate random variable \(x\) is said to be reflectedly symmetric about a center \(\mu\) if the imaginary part of the characteristic function of \(x-\mu\) equals zero, i.e., \[ E\biggl(\sin\bigl(t'(x-\mu)\bigl) \biggl) =0\quad \text{for }t \in\mathbb{R}^d, \tag{1} \] where \(t'\) stands for the transpose of \(t\).

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
