RhoA and Rac1 as Mechanotransduction Mediators in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Analysing RhoA and Rac1 protein levels in Colorectal cancer (CRC) samples under mechanical strain highlights their potential as diagnostic markers. Monitoring their activity could offer valuable insights into how cancer spreads, paving the way for new approaches to better understand and diagnose colorectal cancer.

Selenoproteins in mammalian spermatogenesis:role of the nuclear GPx4 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The selenoprotein Phospholipid Hydroperoxide Glutathione Peroxidase (PHGPx/GPx4) is an enzyme unique among the various GPxs, because it is able to use protein thiols, beside glutathione, The GPx4 gene encodes for three isoforms having different ...

Inhibition of Glutamine Metabolism Attenuates Tumor Progression Through Remodeling of the Macrophage Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The prodrug strategy used in this study offers new promise for cancer metabolism‐based therapies. JHU083, a prodrug that, when cleaved by protease in the tumor microenvironment, yields the glutamine antagonist DON. JHU083 inhibits tumor growth by targeting glutamine‐addicted cancer cells and suppressing glutamine‐dependent M2 macrophages, leading to a ...

The Acari Hypothesis, V: deciphering allergenicity

open access: yesFrontiers in Allergy
The Acari Hypothesis posits that acarians, i.e., mites and ticks, are operative agents of allergy. It derived from observations that allergens are molecular elements of acarians or acarian foodstuffs.

HMGB1 Derived from the Pyroptotic Microenvironment Promotes Macrophage Extracellular Traps in Hirschsprung‐Associated Enterocolitis

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
HMGB1 derived from the pyroptotic environment in Hirschsprung‐associated enterocolitis mediates the formation of macrophage extracellular traps through TLR4 ‐p38 MAPK/p65 NF‐kB signaling pathways. Macrophage extracellular traps induce increased ROS production and pyroptosis of colonic epithelial cells.

Hydrogen peroxide in micropropagation of Lilium: A comparison with a traditional methodology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The micropropagation of Lilium longiflorum requires adequate equipment which may not be afforded by small laboratories or producers. In this work we compared traditional methodology with a protocol that included easily available elements to sterilize ...

Crystalline Catalase, A Peroxidase

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1952
Summary and DiscussionOur experiments show that dilute solutions of crystalline catalase, in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, can peroxidize a variety of compounds. α-Naphthol and p-phenylenediamine are oxidized to indophenol purple; p-aminobenzoic acid, sulfathiazole, adrenalin, ephedrine sulphate, and tyrosine, are coupled with catechol by ...
