ABSTRACTPeroxidase from kiwifruit (Actinidia chinensis) was extracted, precipitated with ammonium sulfate, and purified by DEAE‐cellulose chromatography. Only one band with peroxidase activity with an estimated molecular weight of 40,00–42,000 daltons was found by sodium do‐decyl sulfate‐polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

Peroxidase(s) in Environment Protection [PDF]
Industrial discharges of untreated effluents into water bodies and emissions into air have deteriorated the quality of water and air, respectively. The huge amount of pollutants derived from industrial activities represents a threat for the environment and ecologic equilibrium.

Polymer coated cerium oxide nanoparticles as oxidoreductase-like catalysts [PDF]
Cerium oxide nanoparticles have been shown to mimic oxidoreductase enzymes by catalyzing the decomposition of organic substrates and reactive oxygen species. This mimicry can be found in superoxide radicals and hydrogen peroxides, harmful molecules produced in oxidative stress asso-ciated diseases.

Diverse functions and reactions of class III peroxidases.
Higher plants contain plant-specific peroxidases (class III peroxidase; Prxs) that exist as large multigene families. Reverse genetic studies to characterize the function of each Prx have revealed that Prxs are involved in lignification, cell elongation,

Unexpected diversity of dye-decolorizing peroxidases
Dye-decolorizing peroxidase (DyP)-type peroxidases are a family of heme-containing peroxidases. Because DyP-type peroxidases can degrade recalcitrant anthraquinone dyes and lignin, their potential applications in the treatment of wastewater containing ...

Catalytically Potent and Selective Clusterzymes for Modulation of Neuroinflammation Through Single-Atom Substitutions [PDF]
Emerging artificial enzymes with reprogrammed and augmented catalytic activity and substrate selectivity have long been pursued with sustained efforts. The majority of current candidates rely on noble metals or transition metal oxides with rather poor catalytic activity compared with natural molecules.

Enzymatic Degradation of Graphene Quantum Dots by Human Peroxidases.
Carbon-based nanomaterials have demonstrated to be potent candidates for biomedical applications. Recently, graphene quantum dots (GQDs) have emerged as an attractive tool for bioimaging, biosensing, and therapy. Hence, studying their biodegradability in

Analog Noise Reduction in Enzymatic Logic Gates [PDF]
In this work we demonstrate both experimentally and theoretically that the analog noise generation by a single enzymatic logic gate can be dramatically reduced to yield gate operation with virtually no input noise amplification. This is achieved by exploiting the enzyme's specificity when using a co-substrate that has a much lower affinity than the ...

LC-MSMS based screening of emerging pollutant degradation by different peroxidases
BackgroundThe presence of a wide range of bioactive organic pollutants in wastewater and municipal water sources is raising concerns about their potential effects on humans.
