The biology of PGC-1alpha and its therapeutic potential [PDF]
In eukaryotes, cellular and systemic metabolism is primarily controlled by mitochondrial activity. The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1alpha (PGC-1alpha) is an important regulator of mitochondrial biogenesis and function ...

Developmental and tissue-specific involvement of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-alpha in the control of mouse uncoupling protein-3 gene expression. [PDF]
Uncoupling protein-3 (UCP3) is a member of the mitochondrial carrier family expressed preferentially in skeletal muscle and heart. It appears to be involved in metabolic handling of fatty acids in a way that minimizes excessive production of reactive ...

Peroxisome biogenesis in mammalian cells [PDF]
To investigate peroxisome assembly and human peroxisome biogenesis disorders (PBDs) such as Zellweger syndrome, thirteen different complementation groups (CGs) of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell mutants defective in peroxisome biogenesis have been ...

A Study on the Origin of Peroxisomes: Possibility of Actinobacteria Symbiosis [PDF]
The origin of peroxisomes as having developed from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) was proposed on the basis of the similarity between some peroxisomal proteins and ER proteins, and the localization of some peroxisomal proteins on the ER.

Optimized Lipid Nanoparticles with Tail‐Modified Ionizable Lipids for Safer mRNA Delivery
Systematic engineering of hydrophobic tail architecture in vitamin B5‐derived ionizable lipids establishes a comprehensive structure–activity relationship framework for mRNA delivery. Combined lipidtail and formulation optimization identifies TM1‐OPT3‐C, a lipid nanoparticle platform that improves efficacy–safety balance through efficient mRNA delivery,

Human disorders of peroxisome metabolism and biogenesis
Peroxisomes are dynamic organelles that play an essential role in a variety of cellular catabolic and anabolic metabolic pathways, including fatty acid alpha- and beta-oxidation, and plasmalogen and bile acid synthesis. Defects in genes encoding peroxisomal proteins can result in a large variety of peroxisomal disorders either affecting specific ...

Ischemia‐reperfusion reduces Sirt6 activity, thereby increasing Miro1 acetylation. Hyperacetylated Miro1 exhibits perinuclear distribution and degradation, thereby inducing mitochondrial dysfunction and promoting apoptosis in renal tubular epithelial cells. This pathway reveals a mechanistic link between Sirt6‐mediated deacetylation and Miro1 stability

Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptors and Lipoprotein Metabolism [PDF]
Plasma lipoproteins are responsible for carrying triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood and ensuring their delivery to target organs. Regulation of lipoprotein metabolism takes place at numerous levels including via changes in gene transcription.

As a novel adipose‐derived neurotrophic factor, Follistatin‐like 1 is endocytosed by sympathetic neurons primarily via tropomyosin‐related kinase B. This process promotes sympathetic innervation in adipose tissue and norepinephrine release, leading to white adipose tissue browning, enhanced thermogenesis, and anti‐obesity effects in mice.
