Quantifying Dehydration Effects of Porcine Vocal Fold Attenuation With Optical Coherence Tomography

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 136, Issue 8, Page 3519-3526, August 2026.
The purpose of this study is to use optical coherence tomography (OCT) to characterize the effect of dehydration on the optical attenuation coefficient of porcine vocal fold (VF) tissue. The optical attenuation coefficient tissue decreased linearly with dehydration, dropping by approximately 0.08 mm−1 for every 1% increase in mass loss.

Aligning Real‐Time Recurrence Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulations with Plant Data for the Ruhrstahl–Heraeus Degassing Process of Steel

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 97, Issue 8, Page 4207-4222, August 2026.
Uncertainties exist in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of complex metallurgical processes, even when partly validated by laboratory experiments. rCFD enables computationally efficient prediction of long‐term RH degassing and can be adapted to vary flow conditions.

Aluminum Phyllosilicate and Jarosite Formation Through Alteration of Reworked Al/Si‐Rich Volcaniclastic Sediments in Nili Fossae, Mars

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Aluminum phyllosilicates occur in 1–10s of km2 exposures of Noachian (∼3.7 Ga) rock across Mars and typically appear stratigraphically above Fe/Mg‐phyllosilicates. These units have been proposed to represent pedogenic basalt weathering sequences.

Carbon, Water, and Energy Flux Dynamics in Different Cropping Systems in the Great Lakes Region

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences, Volume 131, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract This study examined carbon (C), water, and energy exchanges across different cropping systems in the Great Lakes region using eddy covariance (EC) fluxes from an agricultural flux tower site (CA‐TPA) in southern Ontario, Canada. The site was cultivated with corn in 2020 and 2021, sweet potato in 2022, and tobacco in 2023. The site was a strong
