Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Effect of capping layer material on thermal tolerance of magnetic tunnel junctions with MgO/CoFeB-based free layer/MgO/capping layers

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
We investigate the effect of the capping layer on the thermal tolerance of magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) with free layer of MgO/CoFeB/spacer layer/CoFeB/MgO/capping layers (CoFeB, Ru, or Ta).

LLB MACRO-SPIN MODELLING OF NANOGRANULAR L1o FePt HIGH ANISOTROPY THIN FILMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
New recording media and recording methods are required if magnetic data storage is to continue the historic growth seen in the areal density, beyond the level currently imposed by the superparamagnetic limit.

Magnetoelectric control of surface anisotropy and nucleation modes in L10-CoPt thin films

open access: yes, 2014
The interplay between electric field controlled surface magnetic anisotropy and micromagnetic nucleation modes for L10-CoPt thin-film is investigated with density-functional and micromagnetic model calculations.

An Experimental High‐Throughput Approach for the Screening of Hard Magnet Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An entire workflow for the high‐throughput characterization and analysis of compositionally graded magnetic films is presented. Characterization protocols, data management tools and data analysis approaches are illustrated with test case Sm(Fe, V)12 based films.

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Influence of the strain effect on magnetocrystalline anisotropy in Co2Fe0.4Mn0.6Si Heusler alloys

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The perpendicular magnetocrystalline anisotropy, magnetoelastic properties as well as the Gilbert damping factor in Co2Fe0.4Mn0.6Si thin films were found to depend on a magnetic layer thickness, and they can be also tuned by the application of additional

Domain wall motion in perpendicular anisotropy nanowires with edge roughness

open access: yes, 2012
We study field-driven domain wall (DW) motion in nanowires with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy using finite element micromagnetic simulations. Edge roughness is introduced by deforming the finite element mesh, and we vary the correlation length and ...

Magnetic Control of Chiral Hybridized Phonon Magnetic Moments in Ferrimagnets Fe2‐xZnxMo3O8

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Helicity‐resolved magneto‐Raman spectroscopy reveals magnetic control of chiral phonon magnetic moments in polar ferrimagnet (ZnxFe2−xMo3O₈). Large spontaneous zero‐field phonon splittings, selective phonon–magnon coupling, and asymmetric Zeeman responses demonstrate that phonon chirality is governed by magnon‐phonon coupling and magnetization.
