A personal glucose meter-utilized strategy for portable and label-free detection of hydrogen peroxide [PDF]

open access: yesBiosensors and Bioelectronics
Rapid and precise detection of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) holds great significance since it is linked to numerous physiological and inorganic catalytic processes. We herein developed a label-free and washing-free strategy to detect H2O2 by employing a hand-held personal glucose meter (PGM) as a signal readout device.

Tyramine-Invertase Bioconjugate-Amplified Personal Glucose Meter Signaling for Ultrasensitive Immunoassay

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry
Highly sensitive and facile detection of low levels of protein markers is of great significance for the early diagnosis and efficacy monitoring of diseases. Herein, aided by an efficient tyramine-signal amplification (TSA) mechanism, we wish to report a simple but ultrasensitive immunoassay with signal readout on a portable personal glucose meter (PGM).

DNAzyme Amplified Aptasensing Platform for Ochratoxin A Detection Using a Personal Glucose Meter. [PDF]

open access: yesACS Appl Mater Interfaces, 2021
Aptamer-based sensors have emerged as a major platform for detecting small-molecular targets, because aptamers can be selected to bind these small molecules with higher affinity and selectivity than other receptors such as antibodies. However, portable, accurate, sensitive, and affordable detection of these targets remains a challenge. In this work, we

CRISPR-powered Biosensing Platform for Quantitative Detection of Alpha-fetoprotein by a Personal Glucose Meter. [PDF]

open access: yesSens Actuators B Chem, 2023
Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is an important protein biomarker of liver cancer, as its serum levels are highly correlated with the progression of disease. Conventional immunoassays for AFP detection rely on enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay analyses with expensive and bulky equipment.

Blood Glucose Meters That Are Accessible to Blind and Visually Impaired Persons [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Science and Technology, 2008
Blood glucose meters (BGMs) that can be used nonvisually or with a visual limitation were introduced in the mid-1990s, but it was not until 2006 and 2007 that a new set of meters with accessibility features were introduced: Prodigy, Prodigy Autocode, and Prodigy Voice (Diagnostic Devices, Charlotte, NC), and Advocate and Advocate Redi-Code (TaiDoc ...

α-Glucosidase-Mediated Glucometer Readout for Portable Monitoring of Acarbose and Migliol

open access: yesChemosensors, 2022
The α-glucosidase inhibitor is regarded as one of the most important drugs for the treatment of diabetes, which can control postprandial blood glucose levels via prolonging the carbohydrate digestion time and retarding the carbohydrates’ absorption.

Detection of Candida albicans Using a Manufactured Electrochemical Sensor

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
Candida albicans is a commensal fungus that is responsible for a lot of nosocomial infections in immunocompromised people. Cell culture is currently the predominant method for diagnosing candidiasis, but it is time consuming.

Using Commercially Available Personal Glucose Meters for Portable Quantification of DNA [PDF]

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2012
DNA detection is commonly used in molecular biology, pathogen analysis, genetic disorder diagnosis, and forensic tests. While traditional methods for DNA detection such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and DNA microarrays have been well developed, they require sophisticated equipment and operations, and thus it is still challenging to develop a ...
