NanoCMSer: a consensus molecular subtype stratification tool for fresh‐frozen and paraffin‐embedded colorectal cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Consensus molecular subtypes (CMS1‐4) have been identified to study colorectal cancer heterogeneity and serve as potential biomarkers. In this study, we developed and evaluated NanoCMSer, a NanoString‐based classifier using 55 genes, optimized for FF and FFPE to facilitate the clinical evaluation of CMS subtyping.

Learning Person-specific Network Representation for Apparent Personality Traits Recognition [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Recent studies show that apparent personality traits can be reflected from human facial behavior dynamics. However, most existing methods can only encode single-scale short-term facial behaviors in the latent features for personality recognition. In this paper, we propose to recognize apparent personality recognition approach which first trains a ...

Explorations in Personal Learning

open access: yesProcedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences, 2013
AbstractIn this paper I want to explore personal learning: I want to start by examining two personal experiences of learning that point to problems in learning theory. The issues that I want to explore relate not only to my theory of learning but to many other theories as well.

Comparing self‐reported race and genetic ancestry for identifying potential differentially methylated sites in endometrial cancer: insights from African ancestry proportions using machine learning models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Integrating ancestry, differential methylation analysis, and machine learning, we identified robust epigenetic signature genes (ESGs) and Core‐ESGs in Black and White women with endometrial cancer. Core‐ESGs (namely APOBEC1 and PLEKHG5) methylation levels were significantly associated with survival, with tumors from high African ancestry (THA) showing ...

Learning by Aligning: Visible-Infrared Person Re-identification using Cross-Modal Correspondences [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We address the problem of visible-infrared person re-identification (VI-reID), that is, retrieving a set of person images, captured by visible or infrared cameras, in a cross-modal setting. Two main challenges in VI-reID are intra-class variations across person images, and cross-modal discrepancies between visible and infrared images. Assuming that the
