2019Drawing on various definitions of ‘advocacy’, this chapter takes an epistemological perspective on the term. It focuses on patients’ knowledge of personal needs that require advocacy. While patients can be able to articulate knowledge of their needs, they might also lack the ability to express it linguistically.
