Ideal Molecular Sieving with a Dense MOF for Helium Upgrading with Highly Diffusion Selective Mixed Matrix Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.

Truth and falsehood for non-representationalists: Gorgias on the normativity of language [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Sophists and rhetoricians like Gorgias are often accused of disregarding truth and rationality: their speeches seem to aim only at effective persuasion, and be constrained by nothing but persuasiveness itself.

‘I Want to Persuade You!’ – Investigating the effectiveness of explicit persuasion concerning attributes of the communicator and the marketing campaign

open access: yesSocial Influence, 2017
In explicit persuasion, the communicator states explicitly a desire to persuade the consumer. By referring to an attributional approach, social engagement was simultaneously explored as a beneficial communicator attribute, while cause-related marketing ...

Carbon Nanotube 3D Integrated Circuits: From Design to Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
As Moore's law approaches its physical limits, carbon nanotube (CNT) 3D integrated circuits (ICs) emerge as a promising alternative due to the miniaturization, high mobility, and low power consumption. CNT 3D ICs in optoelectronics, memory, and monolithic ICs are reviewed while addressing challenges in fabrication, design, and integration.

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

Using Recycled Materials in a Novel Dual Binder System for Hard Carbon Anodes: Closing the Loop Toward Sustainable Li‐/Na‐ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study explores for the first time the use of polyvinyl butyral (PVB), particularly recycled PVB, as a sustainable binder for Li/Na‐based electrodes in the framework of the H2020 SUNRISE EU project. Findings revealed that electrodes bound with a sustainable PAA/PVB mixture demonstrated exceptional rate capability and high initial Coulombic ...
