Perturbation Theory for Abstract Volterra Equations

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
We consider additive perturbation theorems for subgenerators of (a, k)-regularized C-resolvent families. A major part of our research is devoted to the study of perturbation properties of abstract time-fractional equations, primarily from their ...

Hamiltonian Cosmological Perturbation Theory

open access: yes, 2005
The Hamiltonian approach to cosmological perturbations in general relativity in finite space-time is developed, where a cosmological scale factor is identified with spatial averaging the metric determinant logarithm.

Adiabatic Perturbation Theory and Geometry of Periodically-Driven Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We give a systematic review of the adiabatic theorem and the leading non-adiabatic corrections in periodically-driven (Floquet) systems. These corrections have a two-fold origin: (i) conventional ones originating from the gradually changing Floquet ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Implications for Primordial Black Holes from Cosmological Constraints on Scalar-induced Gravitational Waves

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Sufficiently large scalar perturbations in the early universe can create overdense regions that collapse into primordial black holes (PBHs). This process is accompanied by the emission of scalar-induced gravitational waves that behave like an extra ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Modeling Surface-Enhanced Spectroscopy With Perturbation Theory

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
Theoretical modeling of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is of central importance for unraveling the interplay of underlying processes and a predictive design of SERS substrates.

Canonical density matrix perturbation theory

open access: yes, 2015
Density matrix perturbation theory [Niklasson and Challacombe, Phys. Rev. Lett. 92, 193001 (2004)] is generalized to canonical (NVT) free energy ensembles in tight-binding, Hartree-Fock or Kohn-Sham density functional theory. The canonical density matrix

Random Matrix Theory, Chiral Perturbation Theory, and Lattice Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Recently, the chiral logarithms predicted by quenched chiral perturbation theory have been extracted from lattice calculations of hadron masses. We argue that the deviations of lattice results from random matrix theory starting around the so-called ...
