Ionospheric perturbations in plasma parameters before global strong earthquakes

Advances in Space Research, 2014
Abstract Based on the electron density ( Ne ) and temperature ( Te ) data from DEMETER, the ionospheric perturbations before 82 Ms ⩾ 7.0 earthquakes (EQs) during 2005–2010 were studied, using moving median and space difference methods within 10 days before and 2 days after these events in local nighttime.

Large scale structuring of plasma density perturbations in ionospheric modifications

Physics Letters, Section A: General, Atomic and Solid State Physics, 2002
The theory of nonlinear large-scale structuring in ionospheric modifications is developed. The results of an experiment in the northern ionosphere are presented. The ionospheric modification was produced by HAARP facility (Alaska), and the plasma disturbances were measured using the polar-orbiting satellite Oscar 27.

Plasma density perturbations in the ionospheric E-region

Physics Letters, Section A: General, Atomic and Solid State Physics, 1995
Abstract The theory of gradient drift instability in a height inhomogeneous ionospheric E-region is revised. A strong decrease of the instability increments is demonstrated.

ULF/ELF ionospheric electric field and plasma perturbations related to Chile earthquakes

Advances in Space Research, 2011
ULF/ELF electric field perturbations in the ionosphere have been widely observed by the satellites. In this paper, we develop a method of Logarithm Electric Field Intensity (LEFI) to automatically distinguish this kind of disturbances based on the spectrum intensity and its damping exponent with frequency in electromagnetic signals.

Study of local ionospheric plasma perturbation induced by pre-seismic activities

Acta Geophysica, 2021
The pre-seismic ionospheric anomalies coupled through well-proposed lithosphere–atmosphere–ionosphere processes are known to cause pre-seismic ionospheric disturbances (PIDs). The present paper investigates the regional variation of ionospheric densities in the Iran area with the purpose of anomalous ionospheric detection.

Ionospheric Perturbation: A Review of Equatorial Plasma Bubble in the Ionosphere

2019 6th International Conference on Space Science and Communication (IconSpace), 2019
Ionospheric irregularities including the Equatorial Plasma Bubbles (EPB), equatorial anomaly, equatorial electrojet and Travelling Ionospheric Disturbances (TID). This paper reviews the irregularities in the ionosphere focused on the EPB. EPB has drawn great interest due to the severe effects of the communications and satellite-based navigation system.
