Emergence of Macrolide-Resistant Bordetella pertussis, Peru, 2025

We report the emergence of macrolide-resistant Bordetella pertussis during a pertussis outbreak in Peru. Among 68 cases, 31% carried the A2047G gene mutation, conferring resistance to macrolides.
