Higher uptake of common adult vaccines in Australian blood donors: An analysis of linked registry data

open access: yesVox Sanguinis, Volume 121, Issue 5, Page 570-580, May 2026.
Abstract Background and Objectives Understanding differences in blood donor vaccine uptake is essential for accurately interpreting serosurveillance of vaccine‐preventable diseases and other research using donor samples and/or data. We aimed to assess vaccination uptake in donors and non‐donors.

Pertussis surveillance in French hospitals: results from a 10 year period [PDF]

open access: yesEurosurveillance, 2007
We present 10 years of results from a paediatrician hospital network surveillance in France, set up in 1996 to monitor the trend of pertussis (whooping cough) in children and the impact of the vaccination strategies. Microbiologists from 43 hospitals that participate in the network on a voluntary basis notify pertussis diagnosis, and paediatricians ...

Engineered ETS1‐Nanoconjugate Restores Immune Homeostasis through Dual Immune‐Vascular Modulation in Relapsing and Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 15, 17 April 2026.
The biomimetic nanoplatform IMNP (ETS1 pDNA/PBAE@ITP‐MM) undergoes targeted disassembly at inflammatory vascular sites to release the ETS1 plasmid (pETS1). This release initiates a cascade of effects that inhibit pathogenic pathways and support immune homeostasis. (Abbreviations: EndMT, endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition; EC, endothelial cell; TC, T

Bordetella pertussis surveillance in England and Wales: 1995–7

open access: yesEpidemiology and Infection, 1999
Available data sources on disease due to Bordetella pertussis, including notifications, hospital admissions, deaths, and an enhanced laboratory-based surveillance system commenced in January 1994, were reviewed for the period 1995–7. Pertussis notifications continued their approximately 3-year cycle although at historically reduced levels.

Epidemiology of Pertussis After the COVID-19 Pandemic: Analysis of the Factors Involved in the Resurgence of the Disease in High-, Middle-, and Low-Income Countries

open access: yesVaccines
Pertussis is a highly contagious bacterial disease of the respiratory tract that can be prevented by vaccination. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the vaccine coverage rate for the third dose of a DPT-containing vaccine was 86%, with large disparities among

The Effect of Maternal Pertussis Vaccination on Neonatal Health Outcomes in the Dutch Pregnancy Drug Register

open access: yesBirth Defects Research, Volume 118, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background The currently high pertussis‐related morbidity and mortality among infants has led to increased international attention for pertussis vaccination during pregnancy. We studied the safety of maternal pertussis vaccination in the Netherlands with respect to neonatal health. Methods Data from the cohort the Dutch Pregnancy Drug Register

Pertussis Surveillance in Private Pediatric Practices, France, 2002–2006

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2008
To the Editor: In France, pertussis epidemiology has been extensively studied since 1993. Immunization of children with a highly efficacious pertussis whole-cell (Pw) vaccine (Sanofi Pasteur MSD, Lyon, France) for 40 years (since 1966) has reduced the incidence of pertussis.

Microbial Etiology and Antimicrobial Resistance in Pneumonia Among Hospitalized Patients in Kazakhstan: A Systematic Review and Single‐Arm Meta‐Analysis of Prevalence Data

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Pneumonia is an inflammatory condition of the lower respiratory tract, commonly caused by infection and associated with substantial morbidity and healthcare utilization. The burden of pneumonia on healthcare is exacerbated by limited data on pathogenic causes and associated antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Here, we conducted

Validating the Use of Google Trends to Enhance Pertussis Surveillance in California.

open access: yesPLoS Curr, 2015
Pertussis has recently re-emerged in the United States. Timely surveillance is vital to estimate the burden of this disease accurately and to guide public health response. However, the surveillance of pertussis is limited by delays in reporting, consolidation and dissemination of data to relevant stakeholders. We fit and assessed a real-time predictive
