A modeling framework for biological pest control [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2020
We present an analytic framework where biological pest control can be simulated. Control is enforced through the choice of a time and space dependent function representing the deployment of a species of predators that feed on pests. A sample of different strategies aimed at reducing the presence of pests is considered, evaluated and compared.

Biological Pest Control

open access: yes, 2021
Organic farmers can control pests by providing habitat to support beneficial organisms, using trap crops, releasing biocontrol agents or applying biopesticides (pesticides made from natural sources, such as microorganisms, plants, animal tissue or minerals). Biocontrol (biological control) agents are living organisms that are introduced or supported by

Biological Control of Insect Pests in Bermuda

open access: yesBulletin of Entomological Research, 1959
Projects undertaken on the biological control of insect pests in Bermuda since the first introduction of Bufo marinus in 1875 and including those still in progress are discussed. Work on 15 pests or groups of pests has been undertaken involving the introduction of over one hundred species of beneficial organisms.Icerya purchasi Mask.

Fungal Warriors: Effects of Beauveria bassiana and Purpureocillium lilacinum on CCYV-Carrying Whiteflies

open access: yesBiomolecules
Bemisia tabaci is a major agricultural pest that affects both greenhouse and field crops by feeding on plant sap, which impairs plant growth, and by secreting honeydew, promotes sooty mold growth that further reduces photosynthesis.

Histological and molecular responses of Vigna angularis to Uromyces vignae infection

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2022
Background To advance the understanding of adzuki bean (Vigna angularis) resistance to infection with the rust-causing fungus Uromyces vignae (Uv), we comprehensively analyzed histological events and the transcriptome of Uv-infected adzuki bean.
