Biological control of an agricultural pest protects tropical forests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Though often perceived as an environmentally-risky practice, biological control of invasive species can restore crop yields, ease land pressure and thus contribute to forest conservation.

Polar Lattice‐Distorted Motifs Enable Synergy of Local Polarization/Dipole Fields for Concurrent Glyphosate Wastewater Remediation and CO Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photocatalytic treatment of glyphosate herbicide in agricultural wastewater is achieved through the cooperative effect of the local polarization field and dipole field mediated by lattice‐distorted carbon nitride. Glyphosate is completely degraded via selective C─P bond cleavage with a CO evolution rate of 1166 µmol g−1 h−1.

Microbiome and metabolome dynamics in phloem and rhizosphere of Pinus tabuliformis against Dendroctonus valens infestation

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Microbial communities play essential roles in mediating plant defenses against insect pests. However, how host-associated microbiota and metabolites jointly respond to bark beetle infestation remains largely unexplored. Here, we integrated microbiome and

First experiences in the application of biopreparations against the cherry fruit fly in Southern Russia in 2007 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
On the Russian market there are no currently registered biological preparations for the control of Rhagoletis cerasi (cherry fruit fly, CFF), and therefore the effects of natural products against this pest were studied.

POU2F1 Promotes Chemoresistance in Colorectal Cancer Cells via Attenuates the MDR2 Degradation Mediated by PPP1R11 Lactylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic diagram of our study showing that highly expressed POU2F1 in colorectal cancer (CRC) can directly accelerate the cytosolic lactate export to decrease PPP1R11 lactylation at K59, thereby attenuating the E3 ligase enzyme activity and protein stability of PPP1R11, which inhibits the ubiquitination of MDR2 at K413 and K538 but increases the ...

Development‐based In Vivo Bioreactor Strategy for Challenging Senescent Bone Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a development‐based in vivo bioreactor strategy to generate rejuvenated bone grafts (vBR‐Bone) within aged hosts. By enclosing vBR‐Bone fragments within an asymmetric biomimetic periosteum, segmental femoral defects in aged mice were successfully repaired within 6 weeks. Mechanistically, the multifactors of vBR‐Bone reconstitute a remodeling
