Pesticides and bees [PDF]

open access: yesEMBO reports, 2013
In May 2013, the European Commission (EC) adopted a 2‐year restriction on the use of three neonicotinoid pesticides – clothianidin and imidacloprid, both produced by Bayer, and thiametoxam, produced by Syngenta – on crops that attract bees and other pollinators to protect declining populations of pollinating bees.

Carbene organic catalytic planar enantioselective macrolactonization

open access: yesNature Communications
Macrolactones exhibit distinct conformational and configurational properties and are widely found in natural products, medicines, and agrochemicals. Up to now, the major effort for macrolactonization is directed toward identifying suitable carboxylic ...

Harnessing Photo‐Energy Conversion in Nanomaterials for Precision Theranostics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Harnessing photo‐energy conversion in nanomaterials enables precision theranostics through light‐driven mechanisms such as photoluminescence, photothermal, photoelectric, photoacoustic, photo‐triggered surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), and photodynamic processes. This review explores six fundamental principles of photo‐energy conversion, recent

Pesticides on Food [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Health Perspectives, 1994
On page 390 of the October issue of EHP (volume 101, number 5), there is a graph that purports to show the intake of pesticides by children in milligrams per kilogram per day. I think you owe a prominent correction/explanation to your readers. The original figure in the National Academy of Sciences report (figure 5-1, p.

CO2‐Responsive Smart Wood Scaffold for Natural Organic Matter Removal without Secondary Pollution

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A CO2‐responsive smart wood scaffold is developed for sustainable water purification, achieving efficient natural organic matter (NOM) removal and microbial disinfection without secondary pollution. The CO2‐responsive polymer coating undergoes protonation upon CO2 exposure, enabling strong cation−π interactions with NOM.

Baseline tebuconazole sensitivity and potential resistant risk in Fusarium graminearum

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background The Fusarium head blight caused by Fusarium graminearum results in reduced crop yields and the potential for vomitoxin contamination, which poses a risk to both human and livestock health.

An Innovative Chiral UPLC-MS/MS Method for Enantioselective Determination and Dissipation in Soil of Fenpropidin Enantiomers

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
As a chiral piperidine fungicide, fenpropidin has been widely used to control plant diseases. However, there are rare studies that have investigated fenpropidin at the enantiomer level.

On the Real-Time Semantic Segmentation of Aphid Clusters in the Wild [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Aphid infestations can cause extensive damage to wheat and sorghum fields and spread plant viruses, resulting in significant yield losses in agriculture. To address this issue, farmers often rely on chemical pesticides, which are inefficiently applied over large areas of fields. As a result, a considerable amount of pesticide is wasted on areas without
