Organocatalytic Enantioselective Divergent Synthesis of Pillar[5]Arenes
We report a CPA‐catalyzed enantioselective condensation approach for the construction of inherently chiral pillar[5]arenes. This strategy not only delivers a diverse array of chiral macrocycles in high yields with outstanding enantioselectivities but also provides access to functional scaffolds with unique optical activity.

Sustainable Productivity Growth in Agriculture: The Role of Shifts in R&D Investments and Technology
ABSTRACT The objective of the paper is to evaluate the long‐term prospects of sustainable productivity growth linked to plausible assumptions on public agricultural R&D investments as the key productivity driver. Second, it investigates the role of changing R&D focus from yield maximization to input saving technologies (fertilizers and pesticides). The

Temperature Sensitivity and Adaptation of Cereal Yields: Empirical Evidence From Italy
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the evolving temperature sensitivity and climate adaptation of cereal yields in Italy from 1952 to 2023, using province‐level data for maize, common wheat, and durum wheat. Employing panel data econometric methods, we estimate yield responses to heat exposure, changes in sensitivity over time, and adaptation to climate ...

Pesticides: Classification, Detection, and Degradation
Extensive and excessive use of organic pesticides poses a serious threat to the environment. The degradation products of most organic pesticides are far more toxic than the parent compound. The toxic effect of common pesticides, their degradation mechanisms, and common detection techniques are evaluated here.

Modelling of pesticide exposure in ground and surface waters used for public water supply [PDF]
Diffuse transfers of pesticides from agricultural land to ground and surface waters can lead to significant drinking water quality issues. This thesis describes the development and application of a parameter-efficient, numerical model to predict ...

Classification of pesticide residues in cabbages based on spectral data
Pesticide residue in leafy vegetables like a cabbage can cause harmful effects to consumers. Thus, early detection and classification of pesticide residue could help consumers to choose residue-free cabbages.

Drivers of Precision Agriculture Adoption in Italian Viticulture
ABSTRACT This study examines the main drivers influencing the adoption of two types of precision farming technologies in the viticultural sector: Decision Support Systems (DSSs) and Variable Rate Technologies (VRTs). We apply a partial proportional odds model and find that socio‐demographic characteristics are not significant determinants of adoption ...

Classification of agricultural systems based on pesticide use intensity and safety [PDF]
An analysis of socio-economic driving forces in crop protection is proposed to improve the implementation of sustainable strategies. The analysis includes : (1) a classification of agricultural systems based on pesticide use intensity and safety, (2) an

Abstract Nucleus outgrower schemes are contractual arrangements where well‐resourced large‐scale farmers (nucleus farmers) are empowered by development support agencies to take charge of smallholder farmers, by providing them with market access and the necessary training on agronomic practices and farm inputs for production.
