Optimizing Oral Vaccine Distribution Strategies for Wild Boars Through Bias‐Corrected Habitat Modeling: A Case Study of Classical Swine Fever Control in Japan

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Control of infectious diseases in wildlife is often considered challenging due to the limited availability of information. Some infectious diseases in wildlife can also affect livestock, posing significant problems for the animal farming industry. In Japan, classical swine fever (CSF) reemerged in September 2018.

Alpha/beta and gamma interferons are induced by infection with noncytopathic bovine viral diarrhea virus in vivo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In contrast to the results of previous in vitro studies, experimental infection of calves with noncytopathic bovine viral diarrhea virus (ncpBVDV) was found to induce strong alpha/beta and gamma interferon responses in gnotobiotic animals.

Bleeding disorder in a Holstein calf comparable to bovine neonatal pancytopenia

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, Volume 102, Issue 11, Page 594-601, November 2024.
The clinical findings associated with a bleeding disorder, suspected to be an immune mediated pathogenesis comparable to bovine neonatal pancytopenia (BNP), in a 14‐day‐old Holstein calf are summarised. The clinical examination, clinical laboratory findings, treatment, postmortem findings and referral laboratory diagnostics are reported and discussed ...

Evidence for the Presence of Two Novel Pestivirus Species

open access: yesVirology, 2001
The genus Pestivirus of the family Flaviviridae comprises four species, namely Bovine viral diarrhea virus-1 (BVDV-1), BVDV-2, Border disease virus (BDV), and Classical swine fever virus (CSFV). Comparative analyses of partial sequences have suggested that pestivirus isolates from giraffe (Giraffe-1) and reindeer (Reindeer-1) are distinct from the ...

Pathogenicity of genotype 2.1 classical swine fever virus isolated from Japan in 2019 in pigs

open access: yesMicrobiology and Immunology, Volume 68, Issue 8, Page 267-280, August 2024.
Abstract Classical swine fever (CSF) re‐emerged in Japan in 2018 for the first time in 26 years. The disease has been known to be caused by a moderately pathogenic virus, rather than the highly pathogenic virus that had occurred in the past. However, the underlying pathophysiology remains unknown.

A survey of antibodies to pestivirus in sheep in the Republic of Ireland [PDF]

open access: yesIrish Veterinary Journal, 2004
: Sera from 1,448 adult ewes in 91 flocks, representing all 26 counties in the Republic of Ireland, were examined for pestivirus antibodies using a commercially available ELISA which detected IgG1 antibody to border disease virus. Eighty-one sheep (5.6%) in 42 flocks (46.0%) were antibody-positive.
