The response of fetal thymus tissue to infection with a pestivirus
2023Infection of a naive pregnant animal with a pestivirus, such as border disease virus (BDV), during a vulnerable period of pregnancy results in a persistent infection (PI) of the offspring. This persistent infection can have severe negative outcomes for the offspring including reduced weight at birth, reduced growth rate and increased risk of death ...

Pestivirus infection of ruminants in Australia.
Revue scientifique et technique (International Office of Epizootics), 1993Pestivirus infections are commonly diagnosed in cattle but are relatively uncommon in other ruminant species in Australia. Virus isolation is a very reliable technique for detecting pestivirus in specimens, especially when group reactive monoclonal antibodies are used with immunoperoxidase staining to detect non-cytopathogenic virus. Care must be taken

Pestivirus infections in ruminants in Norway.
Revue scientifique et technique (International Office of Epizootics), 1993Serological surveys in Norway have demonstrated neutralising antibodies against bovine virus diarrhoea (BVD) virus in cattle, sheep and goats. The prevalences were 18.5%, 4.5% and 3.6%, respectively. Occurrence of pestivirus-induced disease in Norway is described.

Persistent pestivirus infection in sheep in Apulia (southern Italy).
The new microbiologica, 1994A study in a flock of 100 sheep was carried out to detect animals persistently infected with Border Disease Virus (BDV). From buffy coats of animals without neutralizing antipestivirus antibodies, 6 non cytopathic pestiviruses were isolated in cell cultures. Using 3 monoclonal antibodies, the 6 viruses were initially characterized as BDV strains.

Bovine Pestivirus Infection: a Cause of Ovulatory Disturbance in Dairy Cows
2006Twelve (Experiment I) and four (Experiment II) multiparous dairy cows seronegative to pestivirus were selected and randomly assigned to either a control group which did not become infected or a treatment group in which all cows became infected following intranasal inoculation 9 days before AI.
