Summary Pethidine was rapidly cleared from pony plasma after intravenous injection. The estimated half-life (t1/2) of the drug was 66 ±8.7 (SEM) min (n=6). Less than 5% of the injected dose was excreted unchanged in the urine during the 48 h after administration. Pethidine given by stomach tube produced the highest plasma levels Ih after dosage.
