Bacterial Biological Factories Intended for the Desulfurization of Petroleum Products in Refineries

open access: yesFermentation, 2023
The removal of sulfur by deep hydrodesulfurization is expensive and environmentally unfriendly. Additionally, sulfur is not separated completely from heterocyclic poly-aromatic compounds. In nature, several microorganisms (Rhodococcus erythropolis IGTS8,

Innovation and practice of petroleum engineering synergetic management for the development of difficult-to-produce reserves

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2020
Due to engineering technology and development costs, a considerable amount of proven oil and gas resources in China are difficult to develop, becoming reserves difficult to produce.

Forecasting the production of Distillate Fuel Oil Refinery and Propane Blender net production by using Time Series Algorithms [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Oil production forecasting is an important step in controlling the cost-effect and monitoring the functioning of petroleum reservoirs. As a result, oil production forecasting makes it easier for reservoir engineers to develop feasible projects, which helps to avoid risky investments and achieve long-term growth.

Molecular dynamics studies of interaction between asphaltenes and solvents [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 156, pp.118-124 (2017), 2018
Understanding of the molecular interaction between asphaltenes and other molecules, which may act as its solvents, provides insights into the nature of its stability in petroleum fluids and its phase transitions. Molecular dynamics simulations were performed and reported here on systems consisting of a single asphaltene molecule and pure solvents ...

Comparative activity of dimethyl fumarate derivative IDMF in three models relevant to multiple sclerosis and psoriasis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IDMF is a derivative of dimethyl fumarate (DMF) with a unique therapeutic potential at the intersection of psoriasis and multiple sclerosis. Here, we demonstrate that it compares favorably with DMF and its other derivatives, such as Diroximel, in the zebrafish, microglia, and lymphocyte models.

Optimal Economic Operation of Liquid Petroleum Products Pipeline Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The majority of overland transport needs for crude petroleum and refined petroleum products are met using pipelines. Numerous studies have developed optimization methods for design of these systems in order to minimize construction costs while meeting capacity requirements.

Simulation of incompressible two-phase flow in porous media with large timesteps [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Multiphase flow in porous media occurs in several disciplines including petroleum reservoir engineering, petroleum systems' analysis, and CO$_2$ sequestration. While simulations often use a fully implicit discretization to increase the time step size, restrictions on the time step often exist due to non-convergence of the nonlinear solver (e.g.

Enhancing transporter activity in heterologous expression systems with SAHA: a 2500‐times more potent and odorless alternative to butyrate

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Heterologous expression of membrane transporters in cultured cells is essential for functional characterization, but is sometimes limited by low activity. Our study compares the HDAC inhibitors butyrate, VPA and SAHA to enhance transport activity. We propose to replace butyrate by SAHA: it is equally effective, devoid of repulsive odor, costs less, and

Fluid conductivity in porous media in terms of beta functions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Conductivity of unsaturated porous media to fluids is of theoretical and applied interest to mathematicians, physicists, and chemical, petroleum, civil and agricultural engineers. We explore the expression of unsaturated relative conductivity equations as a regularized incomplete beta function, which implies a beta distribution of the variable of ...
