The paper describes typical habitats of the European river lamprey (Lampetra fluviatilis (L., 1758)) larvae in the rivers of the Leningrad Region. The density of ammocoetes, abiotic components of biotopes, as well as the structure of benthic and planktonic algae communities, zooplankton, and macrozoobenthos were estimated.

The evolution of lamprey (Petromyzontida) life history and the origin of metamorphosis
Reviews in Fish Biology and Fisheries, 2018Modern lampreys (Petromyzontiformes) are one of two lineages of surviving jawless fishes (agnathans), and are thus of critical importance to understanding the evolution of the vertebrates. Although their fossil record is meager, it appears they have remained morphologically conserved for at least 360 million years, but the origin of their multi-stage ...

Ecological and Medicinal Importance of Lampreys (Cyclostomata: Petromyzontiformes: Petromyzontidae)
Middle East Research Journal Microbiology and BiotechnologyFor Pacific lampreys, life is not just about moving from freshwater to saltwater when they reach maturity, these ancient fish have to return to the same river environment where they were born. In littoral on reaches of the Danube (Vilkovo town, Odessa Region) by carrying out of ground at the depth about 50 centimeters an ammocoete larva of the Ukrainian lamprey, Eudontomyzon mariae (Berg, 1931) (TL = 147 mm) was caught. This is the first reliable finding from this area.
