Pets, policies and tenants: report on PATHWAY housing provider - 'Pet Policy' survey

open access: yes, 2004
The Pet Foods Manufacturers’ Association (2003) estimates 50% of UK households have a pet. Whilst most have traditional ‘domestic’ species, there is an increasing trend for exotic species including invertebrates, snakes, parrots and raptors. Insufficient

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Horses’ Cardiovascular Responses to Equine-Assisted Group Therapy Sessions with Children

open access: yesPets
Children with psychosocial, developmental or physical impairments benefit from equine-assisted therapy (EAT) in multiple ways. However, to date, the animal perspective of such interventions has received comparatively less scientific dedication.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Feline Responses to Increasing Inclusion of Natural Olive Extract in Liquid or Dry Palatant Formulations Applied to Kibble Diets

open access: yesPets
Olive extract (OE) has been used in human foods for its nutraceutical effects, making it a product of interest for pet food. However, OE’s effect on palatability has not been examined. The study objective was to evaluate the palatability of dry cat foods

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in
