Rethinking Charge Transport and Recombination in Donor‐Diluted Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Organic solar cells with 1–45% PM6 content in Y12 were studied to link structure and charge dynamics to performance. The conductivity follows a 3D percolation model without a sharp threshold. Donor dilution preserves the photogeneration yield, but limits the fill factor due to transport resistance losses.

Tree-Ring Analysis of Red Spruce Timbers from the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge, White Mountains, New Hampshire

open access: yes
Historic harvesting and mortality from air pollution drastically reduced the abundance of red spruce (Picea rubens), a late-successional dominant of cool-temperate forests of the northeastern U.S.

Near‐Unity Chiral Lasing Enabled by Quasi‐Bound States in the Continuum

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoimprinted chiral array that supports bound states in the continuum is doped with an efficient non‐chiral molecule (Rhodamine‐B) acting as gain medium to produce fully circularly polarized lasing emission. The chiral lasing wavelength can be tuned across the emission band of Rhodamine‐B by adjusting the coating thickness of the TiO2 high refractive ...

Frequency-Dependent Relationships Between Tree-Ring Series Along an Ecological Gradient and Some Dendroclimatic Implications

open access: yes, 1974
Bristlecone pines were sampled at four sites ranging from the arid lower forest border to the upper treeline in the Snake Range of eastern Nevada. Maximum ring-width response to environmental variation is found at the upper and lower forest limits.

3D Printing of Highly Dense and Translucent Zirconia Parts for Dental Applications: Effect of Filament Overlapping

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study formulated a 5Y‐PSZ zirconia paste for extrusion‐based additive manufacturing via direct ink writing, producing dense ceramic structures for dental applications. A colloidal approach with 47 vol% nanometric powder and tailored additives optimized rheology and printability.

NITROGEN CAN LIMIT OVERSTORY TREE GROWTH FOLLOWING EXTREME STAND DENSITY INCREASE IN A PONDEROSA PINE FOREST

open access: yes, 2019
Extreme stand density increases have occurred in ponderosa pine forests throughout the western U.S. since the early 20th Century, with adverse implications for growth, physiological functioning, and mortality risk. Identifying primary stressors on large,

Light Switchable Ionic Conductivity of Arylazopyrazole Modified Polysiloxanes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We present a polysiloxane functionalized with a novel arylazopyrazole dye that undergoes reversible photoisomerization. Upon lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide addition and UV irradiation, the polymer exhibits a shift in tan(d) toward higher frequencies and enhanced ionic conductivity.

Optofluidic Raman Analysis and Capacity Recovery in Li‐ion Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Operando Raman spectroscopy is used to monitor the degradation of commercial Li‐ion cells. Using a microfluidic access port, small amounts of electrolyte are sampled into a hollow‐core optical fibre, where fibre‐enhanced Raman analysis reveals Li+ solvation changes and solvent evolution.
