A case-specific psychological first aid AI recommendations app for rescue and first responders

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Psychotraumatology
Background: Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an intervention designed to reduce the initial distress caused by traumatic events. The various types of PFA interventions have gained widespread acceptance in response to mass trauma and domestic violence ...

Genipin‐Crosslinked, Silane‐Anchored 3D Tumor–Stroma Microtissues for High‐Content On‐Chip Drug Testing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We describe a microfluidic tumor‐stroma co‐culture model, engineered to resist collagen‐hydrogel contraction driven by fibroblast activity. Surface silanization with APTES covalently anchors the matrix to the chip, while Genipin crosslinking progressively increases stiffness and elasticity without harming cells. This supports >10 days of co‐culture and

Functional Precision Oncology Approach Using Nanoliter Droplet Array for Drug Sensitivity Testing in Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A miniaturized drug sensitivity and resistance testing (DSRT) workflow based on the Droplet Microarray (DMA) platform enables functional drug testing using minimal patient‐derived tumor material. By screening nanoliter‐scale droplets containing as few as 300 cells, this approach generates reproducible and tumor‐specific drug response profiles ...

Development of pfa use in precast concrete manhole units

open access: yes, 1992
A series of full-scale factory trials of precast concrete manhole units using pfa are discussed. The trials demonstrated that the use of pfa was succesful in this process.

The Distribution and Polymerization Mechanism of Polyfurfuryl Alcohol (PFA) with Lignin in Furfurylated Wood

open access: yes, 2022
There is increasing interest in furfurylated wood, but the polymerization mechanism between its internal polyfurfuryl alcohol (PFA) and lignin is still uncertain.

A Long‐Lived Human Neurovascular PENTA Culture Model Captures Incomplete Vascular Repair and Glia‐Associated Signaling After Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A long‐lived, five‐cell‐type human neurovascular (PENTA) model recreates vascular disorganization and incomplete repair after traumatic brain injury (TBI). By integrating endothelial, glial, neuronal, and immune components within a 3D scaffold, the platform enables time‐resolved analysis of neurovascular remodeling and provides a human‐relevant system ...

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).

Performance of concrete mixes with OPC–PFA blends

open access: yes, 2017
This paper describes a comprehensive programme of testing for strength, durability (sorptivity, carbonation, drying shrinkage, sulphate attack and chloride ingress) and fresh-state properties (slump, slump loss, setting time, temperature rise and plastic

Patellofemoral arthroplasty-patient demographics and revision causes compared with total and medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty: long-term follow-up data from the Norwegian Arthroplasty Register

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica
Background and purpose: Patellofemoral arthroplasty (PFA) is a rare surgical procedure for isolated patellofemoral osteoarthritis (PFOA). This study compares patient demographics, long-term survival rates, revision risks, and causes of revision in PFA ...
