Strategies for Reducing the PGM Loading in High Power AEMFC Anodes

open access: yesECS Transactions, 2018
Anion Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (AEMFCs) have experienced a significant rise in attention in recent years, largely motivated by the potential to overcome the costs that have plateaued for proton exchange membrane fuel cells.

Origin of Platinum Group Minerals (PGM) Inclusions in Chromite Deposits of the Urals

open access: yesMinerals, 2018
This paper reviews a database of about 1500 published and 1000 unpublished microprobe analyses of platinum-group minerals (PGM) from chromite deposits associated with ophiolites and Alaskan-type complexes of the Urals.

Neuroanatomical diversity in Teleocichla with new volumetric and histological insights into the encephalon of Teleocichla monogramma Kullander 1988

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Teleocichla comprises small cichlids that inhabit the rapid streams of Amazonian rivers; however, there has been limited research on their encephalon morphology. This study examined the neuroanatomy of four species, focusing on volumetric measurements of their encephalon subregions, and providing a histological description of the encephalon of

How Amino Acids Intercalate in CaFe Layered Double Hydroxides: A Combined RIXS and NEXAFS Study

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Intercalation of amino acids in layered double hydroxides offers a road to functional (bio)catalysts. With resonant soft x‐ray spectroscopy we probe the electronic structure of these systems and observe activation and passivation of electronic states as well as bond formation between the amino acid and the LDH upon intercalation.

Going from Pt to PGM‐free Catalysts: Effects of Ink Compositions on PEM Water Electrolysis

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Optimisation of cathode ink formulations regarding the ratio between catalyst, carbon and binder results in a boost in PEM water electrolysis performance. The optimisation can be transferred from pentlandites to platinum and selenide catalysts, wherein the metal chalcogenides show a stronger performance enhancement.

Refining Approaches in the Platinum Group Metal Processing Value Chain—A Review

open access: yesMetals, 2018
Mineable platinum group metal (PGM) deposits are rare and found in relatively few areas of the world. At the same time, the use of PGM is predicted to expand in green technology and energy applications, and PGMs are consequently currently listed as ...

More Than a Question of Correlation: Characterization of the Evidentiary Basis for Biomarker Surrogates Used in European Marketing Authorizations

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Traditionally, clinical outcomes measuring how a patient feels, functions, or survives are preferred endpoints in clinical trials; however, some may take a long time to manifest in slowly developing diseases. Biomarkers, if properly validated, can serve as surrogate endpoints, acting as substitutes for clinical outcomes.

Genetic variation of rougheye rockfish (Sebastes aleutianus) and shortraker rockfish (S. borealis) inferred from allozymes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Rougheye rockfish (Sebastes aleutianus) and shortraker rockfish (Sebastes borealis) were collected from the Washington coast, the Gulf of Alaska, the southern Bering Sea, and the eastern Kamchatka coast of Russia (areas encompassing most of their ...

Comparison of error correction algorithms for Ion Torrent PGM data: application to hepatitis B virus

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Ion Torrent Personal Genome Machine (PGM) technology is a mid-length read, low-cost and high-speed next-generation sequencing platform with a relatively high insertion and deletion (indel) error rate.
