Going from Pt to PGM‐free Catalysts: Effects of Ink Compositions on PEM Water Electrolysis

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Optimisation of cathode ink formulations regarding the ratio between catalyst, carbon and binder results in a boost in PEM water electrolysis performance. The optimisation can be transferred from pentlandites to platinum and selenide catalysts, wherein the metal chalcogenides show a stronger performance enhancement.

Development and validation of a genetic probability for venous thromboembolism

open access: yesResearch and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis
Background: Factor V Leiden (FVL) and prothrombin gene mutations (PGMs), as well as recently developed polygenic scores (PGSs), have been consistently associated with venous thromboembolism (VTE) risk in European ancestry populations.

Geological and geotechnical challenges on the Great Dyke of Zimbabwe and their impact on hardrock pillar design

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The Great Dyke of Zimbabwe is notable for its rich platinum group metal deposits but poses significant geological and geotechnical challenges due to its complex rock types and structural features. Traditional pillar design methods are insufficient for addressing these complexities; the study suggests incorporating advanced techniques such as machine ...

Particle Gaussian Mixture (PGM) Filters

open access: yesCoRR, 2016
Recursive estimation of nonlinear dynamical systems is an important problem that arises in several engineering applications. Consistent and accurate propagation of uncertainties is important to ensuring good estimation performance. It is well known that the posterior state estimates in nonlinear problems may assume non-Gaussian multimodal densities. In

Comprehensive Analysis of the Degradation Phenomena of Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzers with Iridium on Antimony Tin Oxide Anodes

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study examines the structural and chemical evolution of low‐loaded Ir/ATO anodes during PEM water electrolysis under realistic conditions. Iridium dissolution is largely suppressed. In the early stages, both ionomer and support degradation are detected. Morphological reorganization occurs at the interface between the anode catalyst layer (ACL) and

Robust Optimal Power Flow with Wind Integration Using Conditional Value-at-Risk

open access: yes, 2013
Integrating renewable energy into the power grid requires intelligent risk-aware dispatch accounting for the stochastic availability of renewables. Toward achieving this goal, a robust DC optimal flow problem is developed in the present paper for power ...

Synthesis and Verification of Constraints in the PGM Protocol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Specifications of protocols usually involve several parameters, for example the number of retransmissions or the timeout delays. The properties satisfied by the protocol depend often on the relation between these parameters. Automatic synthesis of such relations becomes a difficult problem when the constraints are too complex, e.g., non-linear ...

Electronic Synergy in NiCo‐Embedded Nitrogen‐Doped Hollow Mesoporous Carbon Spheres for Bifunctional Oxygen Catalysis and Zinc–Air Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study employs a hard‐templating etching strategy to synthesize N‐doped hollow mesoporous carbon spheres embedded with NiCo nanoparticles (denoted as NiCo@N‐HMCS). The optimized catalyst exhibits exceptional bifunctional catalytic activity for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline media, achieving a ...
