[Comparative measurements on ruminal pH-value in cattle].

Berliner und Munchener tierarztliche Wochenschrift, 2010
Subacute rumen acidosis (SARA) of ruminants is an important factor in terms of animal health, especially in high yielding cattle. In order to find an accurate method to determine the ruminal pH-value, three methods using eight rumen cannulated cattle were compared. An indwelling measuring unit (sensor) was used for continuous measurement of the ruminal

Impact of ruminal pH on enteric methane emissions.

Journal of animal science, 2016
The objective of this study was to determine the impact of ruminal pH on methane (CH4) emission from beef cattle. Ruminal pH and CH4 data were generated in 2 experiments using 16 beef heifers offered high-forage (55% barley silage) or high-grain (92% concentrate; DM basis) diets.

Blood gas analyses, ruminal and blood pH, urine and faecal pH in dairy cows during subacute ruminal acidosis

2009
The aim of this study was to investigate the variations of some physiological parameters in dairy cows during subacute ruminal acidosis (SARA), a common important disorder of dairy cows that occurs in early lactation. pH changes in ruminal fluid collected by rumenocentesis were measured at ten farms stationed in different zones in the north of Italy ...

Live yeast ruminal O2 scavenger and pH stabiliser

2005
SUPPLEMENTING ACIDOTIC DIETS WITH THE LIVE YEAST SC 47 STRENGTHENS THE RUMEN'S REDUCING POWER BY IMPROVING ITS O2 SCAVENGING ABILITY AND THUS PREVENTS SUB-ACUTE RUMINAL ACIDOSIS. THIS NEW CONCEPT PRESENTED BY JEAN-PHILIPPE MARDEN AND CORINE BAYOURTHE, APPLIES THERMODYNAMIC LAWS TO FINALLY ALLOW BETTER UNDERSTANDING LIVE YEAST'S MODE OF ACTION IN ...

Technical note: Evaluation of a continuous ruminal pH measurement system for use in noncannulated small ruminants.

Journal of animal science, 2009
The objective of this study was to evaluate the precision and accuracy of an indwelling ruminal pH measurement system that could be used in small ruminants (small ruminant ruminal pH measurement system; SRS) without requiring ruminal cannulation. The outer diameter, length, and weight of the SRS were 20.6 mm, 138 mm, and 245 g, respectively.
