A fluorescent peptoid pH‐sensor
Peptide Science, 2013ABSTRACTPeptoids, N‐substituted glycine oligomers, can adopt stable three‐dimensional structures and have found diverse application as peptide surrogates and as nanomaterials. In this report, we have expanded peptoid function to include pH sensing by coupling pH‐induced peptoid conformational changes with fluorescence intensity changes.

Sensors and regulators of intracellular pH
Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology, 2009Protons dictate the charge and structure of macromolecules and are used as energy currency by eukaryotic cells. The unique function of individual organelles therefore depends on the establishment and stringent maintenance of a distinct pH. This, in turn, requires a means to sense the prevailing pH and to respond to deviations from the norm with ...

Journal of Neuroscience Research, 2015
Animals can survive only within a narrow pH range. This requires continual monitoring of environmental and body‐fluid pH. Although a variety of acidic pH sensor molecules have been reported, alkaline pH sensor function is not well understood. This Review describes neuronal alkaline pH sensors, grouped according to whether they monitor extracellular or ...

A differential ISFET pH sensor
2017 IEEE SENSORS, 2017In this paper, we present a simple differential CMOS ISFET based pH sensor. The design uses two different sensing areas. The resulting sensor reduces complexity and power consumption making it suitable for implantable biomedical applications. The design is implemented in a standard 130nm process and the design constraints on sensitivity are explored ...

A Nanojunction pH Sensor within a Nanowire
Analytical Chemistry, 2022pH sensors that are nanoscopic in all three dimensions are fabricated within a single gold nanowire. Fabrication involves the formation of a nanogap within the nanowire via electromigration, followed by electropolymerization of pH-responsive poly(aniline) (PANI) that fills the nanogap forming the nanojunction.

A Portable CMOS Based pH Sensor
2020 IEEE 63rd International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS), 2020This paper demonstrates a portable pH sensing system which converts pH to a digital readout. The system consists of a CMOS ISFET pH sensor with discrete analog to digital conversion and display modules. The front end sensor was fabricated in standard 0.5 µm CMOS technology and an easy to use Arduino microcontroller is used as the computing device ...

Passive multivariable RFID pH sensors
2011 IEEE International Conference on RFID-Technologies and Applications, 2011Sensing of pH with single-use gamma sterilizable sensors is needed in single-use bioprocess components. In this study, we explored pH sensing films based on polyaniline (PANI) that were deposited onto our recently developed passive radio-frequency identification (RFID) sensors.

A remote query magnetoelastic pH sensor
Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 2000A remote query magnetoelastic pH sensor comprised of a magnetoelastic thick-film coated with a mass-changing pH-responsive polymer is described. In response to a magnetic query field the magnetoelastic sensor mechanically vibrates at a characteristic frequency that is inversely dependent upon the mass of the attached polymer layer.

A Remotely Interrogatable Magnetochemical pH Sensor
1997 IEEE International Magnetics Conference (INTERMAG'97), 1997A new type of sensor is presented that allows for remote, in-situ, continuous, long term monitoring of given chemical stimuli. The sensor is comprised of a thin polymeric layer made so that it swells in the presence of certain stimuli, bounded on each side by a magnetically soft thin film.
