Capsulorhexis in eyes with phacomorphic glaucoma

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1998
Phacomorphic glaucoma is a common condition in developing countries. Extracapsular cataract extraction with a sulcus-fixated intraocular lens (IOL) is associated with increased intraoperative and postoperative complications in this condition. We developed a technique that allows a safe, controlled capsulorhexis in the presence of the shallow anterior ...

Evaluation of biometric parameters in phacomorphic glaucoma and mature cataracts

European Journal of Ophthalmology, 2020
Purpose: The aims of this study were to compare the biometric parameters and axial lengths of eyes with phacomorphic glaucoma and mature cataract and to identify differences that might predispose to development of phacomorphic glaucoma. Methods: Three hundred forty-two patients were enrolled in this retrospective study.

Phacomorphic glaucoma: Case and review

Optometry - Journal of the American Optometric Association, 2006
Phacomorphic glaucoma is a lens-induced secondary angle closure glaucoma that may occur as a result of mature cataract formation. A patient with markedly asymmetric cataract and anterior chamber depth was referred after the development of significant eye pain and elevated intraocular pressure that did not respond to topical antiglaucoma medications ...

Femtosecond Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery in Management of Phacomorphic Glaucoma

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2013
PURPOSE: To report the use of femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery in management of phacomorphic glaucoma. METHODS: An 89-year-old patient developed acute phacomorphic glaucoma in her right eye with elevated intraocular pressure (62 mm Hg), shallow anterior chamber, and ...

Neodymium:YAG Laser Iridotomy An, the Initial Management of Phacomorphic Glaucoma

Ophthalmology, 1992
Acute angle-closure glaucoma can be triggered by a mature or intumescent cataract, and occurs in eyes with open angles, as well as in those with narrow, occludable angles. This is encountered more in developing countries, where patients present late. They tend to wait until the cataract becomes mature, because it is common belief among these patients ...

Argon Laser Peripheral Iridoplasty in the Management of Phacomorphic Glaucoma

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 2005
* BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: To document the efficacy and safety of argon laser peripheral iridoplasty (ALPI) as a temporizing measure in the treatment of phacomorphic glaucoma and to evaluate the mid-term visual outcomes. * PATIENTS AND METHODS: The clinical records of all patients with phacomorphic glaucoma treated with ALPI from December ...

An Evidence-Based Approach to Phacomorphic Glaucoma

Journal of Clinical & Experimental Ophthalmology, 2013
Phacomorphic angle-closure is a secondary angle-closure caused by a mature cataract. The definitive treatment is cataract extraction. The objective of this review is to highlight the epidemiology, risk factors, and diagnostic and treatment strategies to optimize final visual acuity.

Increased crystalline lens thickness and phacomorphic glaucoma in patients with Fanconi anemia

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2006
We describe 2 siblings with Fanconi anemia (FA). One developed phacomorphic glaucoma, and both had increased crystalline lens thickness, features that have not been reported in patients with FA. The possible pathogenesis and clinical implications of the findings are discussed.
