F‐Type Pyocin Versus Phage λ Tail: Conserved Hub, Divergent Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Near‐atomic cryo‐EM structures of a Gram‐negative F‐type pyocin reveal a conserved tail tip architecture shared with bacteriophage λ together with a previously unrecognized side‐fiber attachment mode. These findings provide new insight into tailocin assembly and host recognition and establish a structural framework for engineering precision ...

Phage Typing Antibiotic-Resistant Staphylococci

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Public Health and the Nations Health, 1954
+ Numerous editorials, reviews, and reports of experiments upon the resistance of staphylococci to antibiotics have appeared in the literature since the introduction of penicillin therapy.'-3 The problems of multiple-antibiotic resistance of the staphylococci in a hospital population have been reported by many workers,1-4 and recently in an editorial ...

Toward Material‐Specific Peptides From in Silico Guided Peptide Engineering to Target PET in the Presence of PS

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a computational–experimental strategy to engineer material‐binding peptides toward polymer specificity. Molecular dynamics simulations identified residues driving polystyrene binding, enabling targeted substitutions that greatly reduced polystyrene affinity while preserving PET binding.

A new Vi-phage-type of Salmonella typhi and preparation of the typing phage.

open access: yesBulletin of the World Health Organization, 1968
A new Vi-phage-type of Salmonella typhi, type F(7), isolated in Poland in 1963, is described. The homologous typing phage was prepared from phage F(1). The new Vi-phage-type belongs to the F group and its "precursor" is type F(1). No temperate type-determining phage has so far been isolated from this phage-type.

Piezo‐Coupling Effects in Smart Polymers: Toward Ultrasensitive Sensing and Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Piezo‐coupling effects are the foundational factors for the development of multifunctional and self‐powered platforms. Central to this advancement is the use of stimuli‐responsive smart polymers, which offer mechanical flexibility, biocompatibility, and simplified structural complexity with improved sensitivity and energy efficiency.

Alternating Shear Force of Respiration Regulates Cell Interactions of Fibroblasts and Macrophages to Promote Soft Tissue Integration of Chest Wall Polyetheretherketone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Given that PEEK chest wall implants induce shear force at the soft tissue‐implant interface due to respiratory motion in the early in vivo post‐implantation stage. We confirmed that this mechanical stimulus triggers the PIEZO1/ITGB1/YAP1 signalling axis in L929 and the STAT6/p‐STAT6 pathway in RAW264.7, which in turn mediates adhesion and migration of ...

Engineering Antibodies into Targeted Chimeras: From Recognition Modules to Programmable Degraders

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Antibody can be engineered into diverse lysosome‐targeting chimeras that convert target recognition into active degradation. By coupling antibody binding with recruited receptors, encoded domains, conjugated ligands, or nanoparticle scaffolds, these antibody‐associated targeted chimeras (AbTACs) platforms direct extracellular and membrane proteins ...
