Evaluation of Flower Diversity of Selected Phalaenopsis Orchids Mutant Irradiated by Gamma Ray

International Journal of Agriculture and Biology
Phalaenopsis orchids, widely distributed as potted plants globally, face an escalating consumer demand for the development of new varieties. This demand compels breeders to continuously enhance genetic diversity in response to consumer preferences.

New insights into the influence of NHX-type Cation/H+ antiporter on flower color in Phalaenopsis orchids.

Journal of plant physiology, 2022
Vacuolar sodium/proton Na+(K+)/H+ exchanger (NHX) influence color formation because of their effects on cellular pH and Na+/K+ homeostasis. Research regarding NHXs has mainly focused on the vacuolar NHX family members.

Low night temperature acclimation of Phalaenopsis

Plant Cell Reports, 2011
The capability of Phalaenopsis to acclimate its photosynthetic capacity and metabolic activity to cool night temperature conditions is crucial for improving orchid production in terms of efficient greenhouse heating. The extent to which Phalaenopsis possesses acclimation potential and the mechanistic background of the metabolic processes involved, have,

Callus induction and somatic embryogenesis of Phalaenopsis

Plant Cell Reports, 1998
Callus induction and plant regeneration through somatic embryogenesis in Phalaenopsis Richard Shaffer `Santa Cruz' were examined. Protocorm-like body (PLB) segments formed calli in Vacin and Went medium with sucrose. The optimal concentration of sucrose was 40 g ⋅ l-1.

Phenanthropyran derivatives from Phalaenopsis equestris

Phytochemistry, 2001
Two phenanthropyran derivatives, 3-methoxy-2,7-dihydroxy-5H-phenanthro[4,5-bcd]pyran and 2,3,7-trihydroxy-5H-phenanthro[4,5-bcd]pyran were isolated from the orchid Phalaenopsis equestri. Their chemical structures were elucidated from spectroscopic (NMR, MS etc.) analyses.

Studies on somaclonal variation in Phalaenopsis

Plant Cell Reports, 1998
The morphological and genetic variations in somaclones of Phalaenopsis True Lady “B79-19” derived from tissue culture were evaluated. In 1360 flowering somaclones, no apparent difference was found in the shape of the leaves, whereas flowers in some somaclones were deformed.

2021
Enzyme solution containing 1% Cellulisin and 0,1% Macerase was selected for protoplast isolation from protocorm-like bodies of Phalaenopsis. Successful colony formation from isolated protoplasts was observed on SW1 medium.

Orchids (Cymbidium spp., Oncidium, and Phalaenopsis)

2006
Recent advances in genetic engineering have made the transformation and regeneration of plants into a powerful tool for orchid improvement. This chapter presents a simple and reproducible Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation protocol and molecular screening technique of transgenics for two orchid species, Oncidium and Phalaenopsis.
