Ab initio prediction of the polymorph phase diagram for crystalline methanol. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Organic crystals frequently adopt multiple distinct polymorphs exhibiting different properties. The ability to predict not only what crystal forms might occur, but under what experimental thermodynamic conditions those polymorphs are stable would be ...

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

The need to merge supercritical fluid chromatography into undergraduate curricula for the twenty-first century

open access: yesGreen Chemistry Letters and Reviews, 2021
Complementarity to liquid and gas chromatography, supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) is becoming a mainstream separation technique. There is a global demand for more SFC users since ‘green’ method development has become a favorable target for ...

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

European Code Against Cancer, 5th edition – hormone replacement therapy, other common medical therapies and cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The 5th edition of the European Code Against Cancer (ECAC5) contains 14 recommendations on cancer prevention. Here, we update the cancer prevention recommendations regarding the use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which is positioned as recommendation number 13 of the ECAC5.

Tools for chemical synthesis in microsystems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Chemical synthesis in microsystems has evolved from simple proof-of-principle examples to become a general technique in academia and industry. Numerous such “flow chemistry” applications are now found in pharmaceutical and fine chemical synthesis.

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.
