Intraoral Drug Delivery: Bridging the Gap Between Academic Research and Industrial Innovations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intraoral drug delivery offers a promising route for systemic and localized therapies, yet challenges such as enzymatic degradation, limited permeability, and microbial interactions hinder efficacy. This figure highlights innovative strategies—mucoadhesive materials, enzyme inhibitors, and permeation enhancers—to overcome these barriers.

Enhancement of doxorubicin production in Streptomyces peucetius by genetic engineering and process optimization

open access: yesAMB Express
Doxorubicin is an important class of anthracycline antitumor antibiotics produced by Streptomyces peucetius. The doxorubicin fermentation yield of the wild-type strain was very low, so it could not be produced directly by fermentation at an industrial ...

Transparency and the pharmaceutical industry [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, 2014
Carefully conducted and appropriately reported clinical trials are of fundamental importance in evidence-based medicine. This applies to both new and established treatments (see, for example, p291–2 of this issue). It is estimated that about half of all clinical trials are not reported; this is a problem of which we have been aware since 1986, if not ...

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.
