Among 118 women who were sexual contacts of men with nongonococcal urethritis, the practice of fellatio correlated with symptoms of a sore throat. Oropharyngeal cultures for Chlamydia trachomatis were negative in all women, including 11 women who practiced fellatio and whose partners were known to have nongonococcal urethritis due to C.

Pharyngitis and Pharyngeal Space Infections
2020A 17-year-old female is seen in the emergency department with a 2-day history of fevers to 103 °F and a sore throat. Today, she describes her pain to be severe and mostly on the right side. She complains of difficulty opening her mouth and pain with swallowing. On examination, she appears anxious and uncomfortable, speaking softly with a muffled voice.

We want to add our support to their conclusions with an additional contribution: to extend their findings to include throat cultures positive for N gonorrhoeae. We have found this to be true
