AbstractPharyngoesophageal (Zenker's) diverticulum is a relatively common acquired codition that may cause dysphagia and regurgitiation of food. Squamous carcinoma mayi develop in such a dverticulum, but this complication is exceedingly rare and may not be suspected preoperatively.

Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, 2000We report a case of pharyngoesophageal (Zenker's) diverticulum in a 91-year-old woman. Sonography of the thyroid gland showed diffuse enlargement of the gland and a well-defined, heterogeneous hyperechoic mass that appeared to be in the posterior left lobe.
