Phase balancing for aircraft electrical distribution systems
IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2015The aircraft of the future will use several new concepts to improve its electrical power supply system, transforming it into a small smart distribution grid. Among these concepts, power management systems, increase in the main bus voltage, integration of high-voltage direct current grids, phase balancing, and power feeder balancing have been suggested.

Phase balancing in globally connected networks of Liénard oscillators
2017 IEEE 56th Annual Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2017We synthesize a feedback for a fully connected network of identical Lienard-type oscillators such that the phase-balanced equilibrium — the mode where the centroid of the coupled oscillators in polar coordinates is at the origin — is asymptotically stable, and the phase-synchronized equilibrium is unstable.

Phase balancing for a self-excited induction generator
DRPT2000. International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies. Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX382), 2002This paper describes a phase-balancing scheme for a three-phase self-excited induction generator (SEIG) which supplies single-phase loads. It is demonstrated that perfect phase balance can be achieved using a modified Steinmetz connection, provided that the positive-sequence impedance angle of the SEIG exceeds 2/spl pi//3 rad.

The Modified Particle Swarm Optimization for Phase Balancing
TENCON 2006 - 2006 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2006This paper presents a new application of particle swarm optimization (PSO) to an optimal phase arrangement in a radial distribution system. Most conventional methods that have been used to solve this kind of problem are based on trials and errors. In many cases, a lot of single-phase transformers have been connected to the distribution system and the ...

A proposal for charging infrastructure with phase balancing capabilities
2016 IEEE International Energy Conference (ENERGYCON), 2016Phase symmetry is one of the primary concerns for distribution system operators. Three phase charging infrastructure offers a new method of solving this problem. Here we describe a phase balancing system based on fast charging infrastructure components and evaluate it based on simulations and field tests performed on 22 kW charging infrastructure ...

An ASP-Based Approach for Phase Balancing in Power Electrical Systems
2020Unbalanced electrical loads on feeders of power electrical systems can cause serious problems, including power losses, significantly lower power quality, damaging of electrical equipment, and tripping of protective devices. Nevertheless, the problem of balancing such systems—which essentially is equivalent to the problem of integer partitioning—has ...

On the multicomponent surface phase balance equations
Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, 1986The system of the field equations is formulated at the phenomenologically modelledn-component surface phase (e.g. interface, solidification front, shock wave, membrane etc.). The surface phase balance equations then constitute a closed set of the general boundary conditions of the appropriate balance equations of volume phases (as, for example, the ...

An electronic phase balancer for three-phase three-wire loads
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1986It is shown that a high-gain amplifier can be used for removing the negative sequence component from the line voltages of an unbalanced three-phase supply and yield balanced voltages across a load. Experimental results are included in support of the proposed scheme.

An Analytical Approach for Phase Balancing Considering Customer Load Profile
2019 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Europe (ISGT-Europe), 2019Unbalanced loading in the distribution systems causes feeder unbalance. This feeder unbalance deteriorates the power quality and increases power loss in the system. This paper proposes an analytical approach of phase balancing considering the load profile of each bus.

A Modified Marchand Balun Configuration With Tunable Phase Balance
IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, 2013In this letter, a novel modified Marchand balun configuration with tunable phase balance is analyzed and verified experimentally. It is proposed to add a shunt susceptance in between the two couplers of the Marchand balun. This allows for a change in the phase balance which, to first order, is linear with the susceptance, while the magnitude balance is
