Phase-field simulation of fracture in Polymethyl Methacrylate

Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures, 2023
Significant interest and developments have emerged in phase-field fracture modeling. The method approximates fracture continuously by introducing a length-scale parameter, accurately simulating fracture initiation and crack propagation in brittle materials like polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) with nonlinear elasticity.

Phase-Field Simulations of Crystal Growth

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010
This course gives an elementary introduction to the phase‐field method and to its applications for the modeling of crystal growth. Two different interpretations of the phase‐field variable are given and discussed. It can be seen as a physical order parameter that characterizes a phase transition, or as a smoothed indicator function that tracks domain ...

Phase-field simulation of early-stage kinetics evolution of γ' phase in medium supersaturation Co-Al-W alloy

, 2020
The early precipitation of γ'-Co3(Al, W) phase affects the spatial distribution and kinetic evolution of precipitates for the morphology transmission effect, but the nucleation and concomitant growth are not studied still by aging experiments due to the ...

Coupling in situ synchrotron X-ray radiography and phase-field simulation to study the effect of low cooling rates on dendrite morphology during directional solidification in Mg–Gd alloys

, 2020
The effect of low cooling rate with a fixed temperature gradient during directional solidification of Mg–Gd alloys is investigated by coupling in situ X-ray synchrotron radiography and phase-field method.

Phase-field-crystal simulation of nonequilibrium crystal growth

Physical Review E, 2014
By using the phase field crystal model, we simulate the morphological transition of the crystal growth of equilibrium crystal shape, dendrite, and spherical crystal shape. The relationship among growth morphology, velocity, and density distribution is investigated.

Phase-field simulation of martensite microstructure in low-carbon steel

Acta Materialia, 2019
We present three-dimensional phase-field simulations of martensite microstructure formation in low-carbon steel. In this study, a full set of 24 Kurdjumov-Sachs symmetry variants of martensite is considered.
