Controlling Power Flow with Phase Shifting Equipment

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1930
In the operation of an electric power distributing system involving various kinds of networks, a fundamental necessity is that each transforming and transmitting unit carry a reasonable share of the total load. In the case of a single system that has been developed in a coordinated manner the problem of load division has not in general been troublesome

Phase-shift control in electro-optical analyzers

SPIE Proceedings, 1994
Adjustment and stabilization of an optimal value of control voltage is a common problem in spectrum polarimetry when using electrooptical polarization analyzers. In this paper we give a description of a method to determine the quarter-wave phase shift when handling control signals of square form (of the type of a `meander').

Phase-shifting transformer control and protection settings verification

2018 71st Annual Conference for Protective Relay Engineers (CPRE), 2018
San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) initiated a project to add two parallel 400 MVA (+31.3° to −80.1°) phase-shifting transformers (PSTs) at a 230 kV interconnection substation. California ISO (CAISO) proposed the PST project to provide flow control between SDG&E and Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE) 230 kV systems during critical N-1 or N-1-1 500 kV

CONTROL OF STATIC PHASE SHIFTING TRANSFORMERS WITH LEAKAGE REACTANCE

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983
Abstract Analysis has shown that a phase shifting transformer can enhance the stability of a power system. Methods of adjusting phase shifting transformers and control algorithms to realize the stability improvement have been demonstrated. However, in earlier work the effect of leakage reactance and reactance inserted to limit fault currents has not ...

Cascade Dual Buck Inverter With Phase-Shift Control

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2012
This paper presents a new type of cascade inverter based on dual buck topology and phase-shift control scheme. The proposed cascade dual buck inverter with phase-shift control inherits all the merits of dual buck type inverters and overcomes some of their drawbacks.

Group velocity control in reconfigurable phase-shifted superstructures

2011 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics Europe and 12th European Quantum Electronics Conference (CLEO EUROPE/EQEC), 2011
Tuneable optical delaying of short pulses is one of the key components for future all-optical telecommunication networks and information processing systems. Important applications include optical buffering, synchronisation, optical delay lines or jitter correction [1]. One dimensional resonant structures such as Fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) provide large

Analysis of Phase-Shift Controlled Thermoregulator Circuits

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1956
The power sensitivity and the line voltage variation effects of a phase-shifting thermoregulator making use of a thermal element in a Wheatstone bridge and a grid-controlled thyratron are expressed in terms of the circuit parameters. The conditions for line voltage variation compensation are derived and the calculated results are found to be in good ...

Phase controllability improvement for alternating phase shift mask

SPIE Proceedings, 1998
An alternating phase shift masks can improve resolution and lithographic latitude. However, Alt-PSMs have not yet become practical because of difficulty in their tight phase and defect control. In this paper, we focused on how to control both phase uniformity and phase mean value of etched quartz shifters. We found that a material of a dry-etching tale

Reconfigurable Impedance Matching Networks With Controllable Phase Shift

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, 2018
Two kinds of reconfigurable impedance matching networks with controllable phase shift are proposed. The reconfigurable networks can match different loads with desired phase shift at center frequency and no extra phase shifter is needed. The two networks are realized by using varactor diodes and switches, respectively.

Quality control of embedded-type phase-shift mask

SPIE Proceedings, 1995
We have been developing the technology for phase shift masks since 1991 in order to supply the reticles for 64 MDRAM generation and after. We are still developing both the alternative and embedded types fori-line. The embedded type is suitable for ASIC and contact hole. Now, we are reaching an adequate supply of embedded type PSMs for practical use.
