Phases and phase transitions of the phosphatidylcholines

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Reviews on Biomembranes, 1998
LIPIDAT (http://www.lipidat.chemistry.ohio-state.edu) is an Internet accessible, computerized relational database providing access to the wealth of information scattered throughout the literature concerning synthetic and biologically derived polar lipid polymorphic and mesomorphic phase behavior and molecular structures.

Phasing into Retirement [PDF]

open access: possibleIndustrial and Labor Relations Review, 2004
To help workers navigate the transition from work to retirement more effectively, employers have been launching phased retirement programs, which allow older employees to work part-time and receive full retirement benefits. This paper examines the experience of the phased retirement system for tenured faculty in the University of North Carolina system ...

Phases and phase transitions of the glycoglycerolipids

Chemistry and Physics of Lipids, 1994
LIPIDAT is a computerized database providing access to the wealth of information scattered throughout the literature concerning synthetic and biologically derived polar lipid polymorphic and mesomorphic phase behavior. The database is considered comprehensive for glycerophospholipids, glycoglycerolipids, sphingolipids and natural membrane extracts ...

Phase to Phase with TDP-43

Biochemistry, 2017
TDP-43 is a dimeric nuclear protein that plays a central role in RNA metabolism. In recent years, this protein has become a focal point of research in the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and frontotemporal dementia (ALS/FTD) disease spectrum, as pathognomonic inclusions within affected neurons contain post-translationally modified TDP-43.

Phases and phase transitions of the sphingolipids

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1995
LIPIDAT is a computerized database providing access to the wealth of information scattered throughout the literature concerning synthetic and biologically derived polar lipid polymorphic and mesomorphic phase behavior. Herein, we present a review of the LIPIDAT data subset referring to sphingolipids together with an analysis of these data.

Shaping Phases by Phasing Shapes

ACS Nano, 2011
Incorporation of shape-shifting building blocks into self-assembled systems has emerged as a promising concept for dynamic structural control. The computational work by Nguyen et al. reported in this issue of ACS Nano examines the phase reconfigurations and kinetic pathways for systems built from shape-shifting building blocks.

Phase, phase, phase

The Leading Edge, 2002
I have been trying for some time now to write about phase. Sounds easy enough, but the more I think about it, the less easy it gets. I think I know why. Phase is one of those technical terms that has way too many meanings attached to it. Sheriff's dictionary gives four primary definitions of the word, and no less than 20 more derivative definitions.

Arbitrary phase shifters with decreasing phase

2015 38th International Conference on Telecommunications and Signal Processing (TSP), 2015
This paper describes a new class of the versatile network elements for analog signal processing; two-ports with frequency dependent phase shift which starts with arbitrary value and tends towards different but still arbitrary value. Speaking in terms of the complex frequency response plotted in polar coordinates the characteristics can connect any two ...

Phases and phase transitions

Physics Today, 1982
In this first sentence of his seminal book “The Physics of Liquid Crystals,” Pierre Gilles de Gennes has succinctly stated the appeal that liquid crystals have for all of us working in this field. The term “liquid crystal,” in fact, refers to a number of distinct states of matter that have structural order intermediate between that of conventional ...
