A balanced optical-RF phase detector

2006 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and 2006 Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference, 2006
A balanced optical-RF phase detector for the extraction of low-jitter RF-signals from optical pulse trains, which is robust against drifts and photodetector nonlinearities, is presented. Sub-10 fs in-loop relative timing jitter is demonstrated.

Balanced three-phase systems

1996
A three-phase supply system is produced by three sets of windings on an alternator, the windings being displaced from one another around the alternator rotor by 120°. Three-phase systems have a number of advantages over single-phase systems including the fact that, for a given amount of power transmitted, the total power loss is less than in three ...

A phase transition model with the entropy balance

Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, 2003
AbstractThis paper deals with a phase transition model in which the energy balance is equivalently rewritten in terms of the entropy balance. The thermodynamical consistence of the model is proved and also under physically meaningful assumptions on the data, existence of a solution is stated for the corresponding initial boundary values problem by a ...

On the multicomponent surface phase balance equations

Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, 1986
The system of the field equations is formulated at the phenomenologically modelledn-component surface phase (e.g. interface, solidification front, shock wave, membrane etc.). The surface phase balance equations then constitute a closed set of the general boundary conditions of the appropriate balance equations of volume phases (as, for example, the ...

Balance equations for a single-phase material

1998
This chapter extends the discussion of Chapter 2 by accounting for changes that may occur in the conserved quantities that characterize a single-phase material. This is necessary, of course, since a materials processing operation is typically conducted in order to change the condition of a material--its form and/or its composition-when passing from ...
