New topology for voltage balancing in railway substations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper deals with a new technique of voltage unbalance compensation for single phase railway substations. Using the concept of Chopper Controlled Impedance, the authors study the feasibility of an active Steinmetz circuit based on AC choppers.

Cost-Benefit Analysis of Phase Balancing Solution for Data-scarce LV Networks by Cluster-Wise Gaussian Process Regression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Phase imbalance widely exists in the UK’s low voltage (415V, LV) distribution networks. The imbalances not only lead to insufficient use of LV network assets but also cause energy losses.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phase balancing algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Unbalanced loads on feeders increase power system investment and operating costs. Single phase lateral load phase swapping is one of the popular methods to balance such systems.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

DC Voltage Balancing Strategy of a Bipolar-Output Active Rectifier for More Electric Aircraft Based on Zero Vector Redistribution

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
The ±270 V bipolar dc distribution has become an attractive power supply scheme in more electric aircraft (MEA). In this paper, a dc voltage balancing strategy based on zero vector redistribution (ZVR) is proposed for a three-phase coupled ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A Fast SOC Balancing Method for MMC-BESS Based on Nonlinear Model-Predictive Control

open access: yesEnergies
In modular multilevel converter battery energy storage systems (MMC-BESS), state-of-charge (SOC) balancing is essential for ensuring safe and reliable operation.

A Method for Balancing a Single-Phase Loaded Three-Phase Induction Generator

open access: yesEnergies, 2012
When a three-phase induction generator (IG) supplies unbalanced loads, its terminal voltages and line currents are also unbalanced, which may cause the IG to overheat and need to be derated.

A predictive control with flying capacitor balancing of a multicell active power filter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Unlike traditional inverters, multicell inverters have the following advantages: lower switching frequency, high number of output levels, and less voltage constraints on the insulated-gate bipolar transistors.
