Phase boundaries of bulk 2D rhombi

open access: yesComputational Materials Science
We conducted replica exchange Monte Carlo simulations to investigate the phase diagram of identical hard rhombi systems in two dimensions. The rhombi shape varies from nearly square-like, as their minor angle a approaches 90 degrees, to needle-like, as it approaches 0 degrees. For angles near 90 degrees, we observe an isotropic fluid, a rhombatic fluid,

Characterization of therapeutic antibodies targeting lymphatic and vascular resistance factor for the treatment of hypervascularized and highly metastatic cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LVRF (lymphatic and vascular resistance factor) is a VEGFA splice variant upregulated in response to anti‐angiogenic therapy that fosters tumor adaptation through enhanced vascularization, lymphangiogenesis, and metastatic dissemination. Targeting LVRF with fully human neutralizing antibodies disrupts these processes and limits resistant tumor growth ...

Optimization of seminal extracellular vesicle isolation protocols for cancer biomarker analysis using proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This paper shows that size‐exclusion chromatography and sequential centrifugation applied to seminal plasma enrich for different populations of extracellular vesicles. This may significantly affect the detection and analysis of extracellular vesicle‐associated cancer biomarkers.

Spatial heterogeneity of hotspot mutations and clonal relatedness in ovarian endometrioid carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatially resolved analysis revealed heterogeneous distributions of selected cancer‐associated mutations within ovarian endometrioid carcinomas. Shared mutations between paired endometrial and ovarian tumors supported clonal relatedness. These findings highlight the value of sampling multiple tumor regions when interpreting molecular profiles ...

Phase boundary of nuclear matter in magnetic field

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Nuclear matter with a strong magnetic field is prevalent inside neutron stars and heavy-ion collisions. In a sufficiently large magnetic field, the ground state is either a chiral soliton lattice (CSL), an array of solitons of the neutral pion field, or ...

The multifaceted roles of lysosomes in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Lysosomes support cancer cell adaptation by integrating macromolecule degradation and nutrient recycling with nutrient sensing, inter‐organelle communication and immune regulation. These interconnected functions can promote tumour growth, stress tolerance and therapy resistance, while also creating context‐dependent vulnerabilities that may be ...

Overcoming platinum resistance by the disulfiram metabolite CuET in novel preclinical models of human carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cisplatin‐resistant cancer cells survive DNA‐damaging platinum‐based treatment yet remain sensitive to CuET‐induced proteotoxic stress. The distinct mechanism of action allows CuET to overcome and eliminate cisplatin‐resistant tumour cells, unless highly expressed metallothioneins (MTs) interfere with CuET, thereby highlighting MT levels as candidate ...
