Phase boundaries in ammonium sulfate
Physica Status Solidi (a), 1977Phase boundaries between paraelectric and ferroelectric regions of ammonium sulfate single crystal plates are investigated. The stable directions of the boundaries with respect to the crystallo-graphic axes are deduced from spontaneous deformations at the phase transition.

Phase Transitions on the Boundary of a Domain
Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2003The author considers the minimization problem for the energy functional of a two-phase medium concentrated at the boundary of a domain. He studies regularization of the functional by means of the area of the boundary of the phase interface under additional conditions on the displacement field.

A Multiferroic Morphotropic Phase Boundary
Advanced MaterialsABSTRACT Bismuth ferrite (BiFeO 3 ) thin films possess large ferroelectric polarization and antiferromagnetic order, yet their magnetoelectric coupling is limited by weak intrinsic magnetization.

Theory of the morphotropic phase boundary
Ferroelectrics, 2001A Landau theory is presented for the morphotropic phase boundaries in the solid solution system of perovskite-type oxide ferroelectrics. The origin of useful functions of materials located close to the morphotropic phase boundary are attributed to the isotropy of the thermodynamic potential.

On Elastic Boundary Conditions at Phase Boundaries
MRS Proceedings, 1988The elastic distortions of two adjacent crystals separated by a phase boundary are in general of great complexity. Three types of phase boundaries are considered, depending on their apparent ability to maintain continuity of 1, 2 or 3 plane orientations.

Phase Transition within a Phase Boundary
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1972The excess free energy σ due to the phase boundary has been expressed previously using the bulk properties of the two phases meeting at the boundary as exp(−Aσ/kT)= ∑ ν [p(II)(ν)p(I)(ν)]1/2,where σ is per unit area, A is the cross-sectional area of the boundary, and p(I)(v) is the probability that a configuration v of the lattice plane parallel to the ...

The phase boundaries in binary alloys, part 2: the theory of the , phase boundaries
Proceedings of the Physical Society, 1937A quantitative theory of the phase boundaries in alloys between the face-centred and the body-centred cubic structures is given. The theory is applied in detail to alloys in which copper is the major constituent. The width of the (?+?) mixed-crystal region is obtained with fair approximation; it is found that the width of this region decreases with ...

Ferroelectrics, 1989
Abstract An experimental verification was made of the theoretical results obtained by Gordon for the motion of phase boundaries in PbTiO3 single crystals. Making use of the jerky motion of the phase boundary the supercooling was determined together with the corresponding value of phase boundary velocity.
