Coating approach for a Phase Change Material (PCM)
Powder Technology, 2019Abstract PCMs (Phase Change Materials) go through volumetric variation during the solid-liquid phase transitions. Encapsulation enables the preservation of their thermal efficiency and prevents adherence on the surface where they are applied. For PCM application, particles with high load are desirable, and the coating in fluidized bed represents a ...

Heat transfer of phase change materials (PCMs) in porous materials
Frontiers in Energy, 2011In this paper, the feasibility of using metal foams to enhance the heat transfer capability of phase change materials (PCMs) in low- and high-temperature thermal energy storage systems was assessed. Heat transfer in solid/liquid phase change of porous materials (metal foams and expanded graphite) at low and high temperatures was investigated.

Phase-change materials (PCM) for automotive applications: A review
Applied Thermal Engineering, 2018Abstract In this paper, an extensive review of a battery thermal management systems (BTMSs) such as phase-change materials (PCMs) in the state of art is proposed. Nowadays, PCMs are particularly attractive and chosen as one of the most interesting cooling system in terms of high-energy storage density.

Numerical Investigation of a Phase Change Material (PCM) Module With Internal Fins
ASME/JSME 2007 Thermal Engineering Heat Transfer Summer Conference, Volume 2, 2007The main objective of this study is to investigate the enhancement of energy storage rate of a thermal energy storage unit filled with a PCM by inserting a fin array system. Heat is transferred to the unit through its base plates, to which aluminum fins are attached. The PCM, a commercial paraffin wax, is stored between the fins.

Utilization of phase change materials (PCM) for energy recovery in the steelmaking industry
Journal of Engineering Thermophysics, 2013The purpose of this study is to evaluate the possibility of recovery of energy, efficiently, from the off-gases of an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF). The system adopted provides the utilization of a phase change materials (PCMs) apparatus matched with an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) for electrical energy production. The solution proposed allows reduction of

Effect of phase change materials on the hydration reaction and kinetic of PCM-mortars
Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2014The Phase Change Materials are considered an attractive way to reduce energy consumption thanks to their heat storage capacity. Their incorporation in the construction materials allows the energy to be an integral part of the building structure. Even though PCMs have shown their reliability from a thermal point of view, some drawbacks linked to their ...
